About this property

Creekside Cottage Retreat - Fishing, Penn State, Pet-Friendly!

Welcome to our Creekside Cottage Retreat near Penn State, nature, and a variety of local treasures in the heart of Central Pennsylvania! We have a little bit of everything whether you’re looking for world-class fishing, a remote wilderness workspace, or a fun weekend with friends and family. Our creekside cottage is only 10 minutes away from Beaver Stadium and our property extends into Spring Creek, so you have direct access to a Class A Wild Trout Stream. Come join us creekside!

The Space
Our creekside cottage is only 10 minutes away from Beaver Stadium and our property extends into Spring Creek, so you have direct access to a Class A Wild Trout Stream in addition to easy access to the Spring Creek Canyon trailhead. If you’d rather enjoy nature more casually, we have lounge chairs available to take into the creek itself. Relax under a canopy of trees while soaking your feet in the coolness of the creek after a hike or enjoy a local brew from one of 6 nearby craft breweries. We’ve lived in Central PA for over 20 years and it’s a special place with something for everyone. We’re happy to provide recommendations to local restaurants and attractions (and back roads to avoid PSU traffic), so let us know what you’re interests are and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Our house was a 1940s fishing cottage that has been updated to include a modern galley kitchen, a retro arcade bedroom, and a studio workspace and three-season porch overlooking the creek. All bedrooms have great views of the creek, so open up the windows and enjoy the views along with the serene sounds of the creek as you drift to sleep each night.

We welcome pets for an additional fee and are happy to provide a large dog crate to help lighten your load while traveling. Also, our propane grill is compact and available to take to tailgates. As long-time Aribnb travelers, we appreciate unique Airbnbs and good hospitality, so if there’s ever anything you need, just let us know. Check out our photo captions or read below to learn more about each space within our home, and drop us a message if you have any questions.

Studio
The studio is the unique entry point to our home. This enclosed porch has a dedicated workspace, which is also our go-to place to eat meals. The desk serves as our dining table and is a custom-made, live-edge table made from local reclaimed wood by craftsmen just down the road. The studio overlooks the creek and our full-size daybed is a great place to relax during the day and a cozy bed at night.

Three-Season Porch
You can enter the screened-in porch through the studio or living room. Here you can enjoy the rush of the creek while lounging on the porch swing or sectional. It’s a great place to unwind with a larger group. Note: We’re in the process of updating this space and will be posting pictures soon.

Patio
Sit around the fire table on our patio to enjoy the evening sky or grill out with the family and turn the fire table into your dinner table! Remember, our grill is portable, so feel free to bring it along to tailgates, but don’t forget to buy a small camping propane cylinder from our local Tractor Supply before heading to the game!

Living Room
Our living room combines modern comfort with vintage touches. Upon entering our home, we encourage everyone to set their technology aside at the charging station and put on their favorite record. In the evening, unwind on the couch or chaise in front of the 55-inch TV. While we do have a wood stove, it is currently unavailable as we debate whether or not to put the money into reviving it. Feel free to weigh in with your thoughts. Also, if you ever have a need for a larger dinner table, our side board can be moved out with flaps extended to accommodate dinner for six.

Kitchen
Speaking of dinner, all of the chefs out there will love cooking in our galley kitchen. With a brand new induction stovetop, you can cook in a moment’s notice as pans reach cooking temperatures in about half a minute! We have a brand new GIANT grocery store just two minutes up the hill, so there’s no need to bring your own food, and we have all of the pots, pans, utensils, oils, and spices that you’ll need. On top of all of that, we have a coffee bar to support a good start to each day!

Bathroom
Our retro, rustic bathroom is on the main floor and includes all of the basics: sink, toilet, and shower tub. Our filtered well water pump supplies good pressure and plenty of hot water is available in addition to plush towels.

Arcade Bedroom
The first bedroom upstairs includes a bunk bed in addition to an arcade table and plenty of closet space. The arcade table is for two players and features all of the iterations of Amy’s favorite video game, Street Fighter, along with a few other games. Enjoy the blast from the past!

Master Bedroom
The master bedroom has a comfortable queen bed with memory foam topper with great views of the creek. Nothing beats waking up to the sights and sounds of the creek in the morning.

Parking
When you arrive at the Creekside Cottage Retreat, plenty of parking is available creekside in our gravel lot opposite the house.

Cooling
The temperature is generally more moderate in Spring Creek Canyon, but we have plenty of climate control to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Air conditioners are located in the studio and each of the upstairs bedrooms. These are enough to keep the entire house nice and cool on even the hottest days.

We hope to see you creekside soon!
