This one has it all !!!!
Sunset Dreams has all you need and more. Beautifully maintained and updated Villa. The owner thought of every possible need and has it all waiting for you. Linens and bedding were high end/excellent quality with plenty of extras for all bedrooms if needed. Closet space is large in all bedrooms. Plenty of towels and even a starter set of paper towels, toilet tissue, laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent is provided to give you time to settle in before shopping. The kitchen is updated and fully stocked with absolutely everything you could possibly need. Two Wii stations provided - one in living room and one in bedroom with bunk beds - we ALL enjoyed them in the evenings after dinner! Huge number of board games and puzzles and even a lovely free standing wooden checker set up. Master bedroom suite upstairs is beautifully appointed and absolutely huge including a master bath suite that I would love to have at home! Location, location, location! Literally around the bend to Captiva Village - used our car only in the evenings to go for dinner. The beach is steps away just outside the front door. We loved the shells that are so plentiful on this gorgeous beach. They literally wash up at your feet as you are walking. The bay with great access to a fishing dock is just a few steps further down the path from the lovely pool/spa area.
Landscaping is meticulously maintained! Dan, thank you for providing your beautiful villa for a fantastic family vacation. It was a pleasure to speak with you prior to our check-in and what a nice personal touch to have you email and check to be sure that we arrived safely and that all was well with the Villa !!! If you are reading this review and considering Sunset Dreams, look no further. Don't miss out on this one folks - it is true to its name!! We are already planning our trip for this summer.
Sunset Dreams is absolutely amazing.
Our trip this year was absolutely amazing. While part of that is the mystique of Captiva, a large reason for that was this gorgeous town home. The layout, location to the beach, and amenities were simply perfect. It brought our family together and provided us with some stunning visuals, especially sunsets. Before arriving we questioned whether or not the pictures were photo-shopped or used a filter to convey a warm color to the living room during a sunset. The first evening answered that question. The following week revealed the most amazing sunsets every single night. Simply breathtaking. Super close to the beach, high quality beach chairs, umbrellas, and cart, swimming pool are just a few of the positives. Dan really wanted our stay to be memorable and checked in to make sure our needs were being met. An experience we will never forget.
Thanks Marc! We work hard to keep the home very well maintained considering it is very popular. The the name of the home speaks for itself and was an easy choice once we experienced the sunsets there. The beach being just 25 steps away makes the views and the glowing colors in the house even more amazing. I look forward to your return.
A Perfect Vacation Home
We had a simply wonderful stay in Sunset Dreams for a month, from the beginning of February through the beginning of March, the longest time we have ever booked at one place. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the villa more than lived up to what we read in the online description. The townhouse is exceptionally cheery with bright colors and vivid, well chosen décor that evokes this seaside place. Everything was clean and very well maintained. The bottom level, where we parked our car underneath the house, is equipped with an elevator that provides access to all levels from the ground to the first and second floor. For us, it was as much of a necessity as it was a luxury. The first level consists of a large open plan with a charming living area, dining area with a parrot chandelier, and a den area for watching television. It’s a grand place to relax. In the back are two well furnished bedrooms and two bathrooms (one, a half bath) leading to a comfy screened porch. The kitchen, off the living room, has everything you need to keep house. On the top level, the large master suite’s balcony looks out on the gulf. It’s a lovely view at any time of the day, with unbeatable views of the sunset. There’s a really useful home office tucked into the large master bedroom suite. The master bath is spacious and beautifully equipped, leading to a back screened porch with a view of the sound area and the pool.
We spent most mornings at the beach enjoying the gulf, just across the road, and the afternoon at the pool area, reading, relaxing and swimming laps. We enjoyed exploring the restaurants of Captiva and Sanibel like The Green Flash and The Mad Hatter, our favorites. We visited the Ding Darling nature center and a few of the other attractions, but most of the time we simply enjoyed the villa with our family. Our host, Dan, was gracious and helpful from the beginning of our stay and throughout. We have rarely enjoyed a vacation more than we did this one. In fact, we were so smitten with Sunset Dreams that we have booked for more than a month for next year.
In summary, this townhome is high end with tasteful furnishings and amenities, excellent towels and bedding, and appliances. You can't go wrong if you decide to spend your vacation in Sunset Dreams.
Great location, lovely house
We stayed in Sunset Dreams on Captiva Island for seven nights , late October till early November. The house was just as fabulous as it looked online - but even more comfortable to live in. It has every amenity you could want on holiday, with a wonderful pool, great kids rooms with bunk beds, well equipped kitchen, beach towels/chairs etc, and lots of games. It even had a trolley that we could use to take all our gear across to the beach. The house has three lovely patios and its location in Captiva really couldn't be better. Right across the road from Captiva's beautiful beach - it was literally a 20 second walk to the sand - we spent our days between the pool and the sea, and in the evening we walked just a few minutes to the great restaurants and bars of Captiva Village. Dan was a brilliant host, providing us with everything we needed for the week, including details on how to get groceries delivered ahead of our stay and local activities like boat and paddle-board rental. We loved our time at Sunset Dreams and hope to return one day.
Thank you for the great review! It must have a been very relaxing after returning from Disney. We work hard to make sure the home is well maintained and updated. The location is wonderful with easy access to everything including the bay in the back of the property.
Also, thank you for being the first review on our listing since the others for the previous 3 years were lost when we transferred the listing. But as you can see all the reviews have been very consistent over the years. Safe travels home and we look forward to your return.
Sunset Dreams in Captiva
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunset Dreams a beautiful multiple story twin town home on the Gulf of Mexico!! The home was beautiful, exquisitely appointed, well maintained and exactly as promised. The owner was quick to respond and helpful when we were deciding where to stay. He answered all our questions and provided me with more pictures and a long list of things to do on the Island and other helpful tips that come from knowing a place well.
Sunset Dreams is a wonderfully spacious with lots of separate areas for everyone to enjoy and a huge living room and dining area for everyone to come together! The house has a wonderful large parking space under the home and a darling private elevator for bringing up your luggage and groceries. This elevator was listed in the amenities and I thought oh that is nice but after traveling from Minnesota and buying groceries for a week at Whole Foods in Naples, I was very grateful not to have to carry everything up to the kitchen and 3rd floor bedroom!!!
Location is a priority for us and it was located on the North end of the Island with a perfect view of the gulf!! The road does run between the Gulf and the property but was not noticeable from our gorgeous loft bedroom with a wonderful balcony. The beautiful landscaping gave the property privacy and beauty. We watched the sunset each night on our balconey and slept with the sliding glass door open to the sound of the waves at night which was pure heaven. It was a short walk on the beach into town and we ate outside at the Mucky Duck several times and avoided the parking problems which was another plus for this property!!
I would highly recommend this property to friends. Our family continued to comment all week on how I scored with this property!!! We haved stayed on the Island before and this is our new favorite property!!
What a fabulous home! And that is what we felt like as soon as we walked in - home! This house is a real treat. From the fun, bright colors and art to the comfy and smartly arraigned furniture it makes you feel right at home immediately. The views of the beach and gulf are amazing. We enjoyed them from the house and the beach itself which is just a short trot across the street - beach chairs provided along with a wagon to cart all your beach stuff across the road. You feel like they thought of everything at this gem! Our 3 boys could not believe they had 2 Wii units and 2 guitars for Guitar Hero. They didn't play much because they were at the beach, pool or investigating the island, but the cool factor was still huge! Speaking of the pool, its very nice with a great hot tub and we made many round-trip treks from the beach to the pool and back again. Round trip it's about a minute walk, again a perfect setting. We found the deck off the 2nd floor master suite of the house to be our favorite congregating place. It has the best view and we would enjoy coffee there in the morning, soak up the sun with a book in the afternoon and a glass of wine in the evening watching the sunset. We felt every detail was thought of at this great property; from the soft blankets to the big, bright bath rooms to the colorful dinnerware to the cute checker table in the front window which out boys throughly enjoyed playing as they watched the people shelling on the beach in the mornings. We parked our car upon arrival and didn't get in it again until we were heading for the airport home. No need! Town is a short walk up the beach and we also rented bikes from Yolo and explored the whole island. Plenty of towels both for beach/pool and showering. We had a great time. much of which had to do with this amazing home and the time and energy the owner has put into creating a haven for R & R. In the past, we have always stayed in South Seas while on Captiva, but in the future, we will be staying here.
Captiva is a tropical paradise like no other in the United States. Captiva Island is a barrier island in the tranquil Gulf of Mexico on Florida’s southwest coast. North of Sanibel Island and West of Fort Myers, world-renowned Captiva is also just three hours from Tampa and Miami by car. A narrow seashell-laden island famous for its dramatic sunrises and sunsets, celebrity visitors and creative residents, Captiva is home to private waterfront estates, two large resorts and several charming small inns. The heart of the island is its vibrant ‘downtown,’ coined “the village,” in which visitors and locals stroll among colorful galleries, shops and restaurants with live music and water views. Captiva is also a water sports destination and offers boaters multiple marinas with overnight dockage.
As you can tell by the picture above, one of the island’s most beautiful gifts is the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico right outside your front door. Captiva is one of the furthest points west in Florida which gives you the best view and amazing colors fill the sky. National Geographic Traveler magazine names Sanibel and Captiva as among the world’s best islands. Travel and Leisure magazine rated Sanibel and Captiva as having some of the top shelling Beaches in the world, describing it as a “Sheller’s Mecca where you can find the best unburied treasures in the US”.
You will be captivated by beautiful alluring Captiva Island, where once it is said pirates roamed, conquistadors explored and Calusa Indians called home. The mystery and adventures are still here. Treasures to be found include; spectacular white sand beaches scattered with treasures from the sea (pastel colored seashells) and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. Captiva is one of the few islands literarily made up of shells created over thousands of years, and one of the places considered best in the world for shelling. The islands geography of lying east and west rather than north and south as most islands, allows Captiva to catch abundant sea shells from the Gulf of Mexico.
The famous J. N. Ding Darling National wildlife Refuge is second only the beaches as the islands top attraction with 6400 acres of forest and watershed making up one of the largest mangrove wildernesses in the country. It is in the top five most visited refuges in the US. Each year over 800,000 people visit the refuge and explore the wildlife drive. You can take a self guided car or Tram tours or experience the professional guided tour. Birders have spotted nearly 250 species in the refuge, many of them rare types that life-list keepers flock to see. Call 472-8900 for information.
From the end of Sanibel the beach stretches 5 miles to the northern tip of Captiva Island at Redfish Pass. Captiva Drive is a road with giant cactus, colorful bougainvilleas and other tropical flora along a stretch of sea and sand ending at “Captiva Village”. It will remind you of a small lush island in the Caribbean.
There are superb accommodations, restaurants & shopping. Golfing, tennis, fishing, boating, and all types of children's activities are available in this small slice of paradise.
