Comfortable Three Bedroom Home On Pickwick Lake Main River Channel, 1960s ranch
We (property owners Tim and Judy Hendrix Kirchner) grew up in this area and we were fortunate to be able to keep this home in the family when Judy's mom decided to sell and move into town. We both graduated from the University of North Alabama in nearby Florence; Judy was a teacher for many years and Tim went on to the University of Alabama, Huntsville, Engineering School, earning a degree in electrical engineering. We lived for almost 20 years in the Marshall Islands on the island of Kwajalein, and now we split our time between Huntsville, where Tim continues to work in missile defense, and our lake house on Locust Shores, where Judy loves fulfilling her dream of owning a bed and breakfast. We have two grown children, Julianne, a nurse who is married and lives in Huntsville, and Graham, also married, who attends medical school at University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Judy purchased this House in 1991
Why Judy chose Tuscumbia
For going on six decades this home on Pickwick Lake has been in our family. Judy and her sisters were raised in this home; we were blessed to be able to keep it in our family to be loved by our fourth generation. It has been our gathering place for over half a century because we love the beautiful, restful atmosphere the home has to offer. It's an older, comfortable, happy place for friends and family to gather to enjoy water activities, play games, watch waterfowl, fish, read, or to just relax. This house is not fancy, not in a gated community, and is NOT the Hilton. Please don't reserve it if you're looking for an upscale, fancy new home. You won't be happy here. If, however, you're looking for a homey, comfortable, clean and peaceful property in the country, away from the busy-ness of town, this may be the house for you.
What makes this House unique
Great for tournament fishing participants! Directly located on Pickwick Lake, part of the Tennessee River, this area is known for great fishing year round. Located just 10 minutes from Pride Landing Launch Ramp, and only 13 miles, (about 20 minutes by car, seven miles by water) from Florence Marina/McFarland Park. There's plenty of boat parking in our double driveway. Fishing from our private pier is another option, or guests may use our canoe for fishing or just relaxing on beautiful Pickwick Lake. Ask about lake conditions if water activities are part of your plans. Great for family members and friends of fishing tournament participants as you may watch the action from the screened porch or decks!

A Wonderful break from the Rat Race :)
Loved the view of the water! The house felt very homey and I felt comfortable just relaxing
It was all great
Bliss on the lake
This is the perfect family getaway and even great just for two people. Loved being on the water, and watching the birds, butterflies and the bunny!
This property is in a great location and the view of the river is beautiful. My husband and I booked this for a weekend getaway as he loves to fish. The house was comfortable, clean, and felt truly like a home away from home. My favorite was the bed swing on the back porch. We will definitely be staying here again!!!
Judy is always awesome and accommodating! Would recommend this house to anyone. The view on the lake is gorgeous!
peaceful place on the river
Our stay in this beautiful home on the Tennessee River was wonderful. We spent a lot of time enjoying the cool weather on the huge porch facing the water. The beds, towels and other accommodations were above average. We plan to come back for a two week stay this coming Fall. Also, have recommended this place to our friends.
