About this property

A two-bedroom house with large screened porch overlooking a farm pond and located on a 10 acre wildlife preserve adjoining our 100 acre farm. We offer comfort, quiet, privacy, woodland trails and fields for walking and bird watching, and a pond for fishing. The house is particularly suitable for a couple or small family. We guarantee no TV, no radio, no telephone, no newspaper, but include a modest library and comfortable reading chairs, electric heat and air conditioning, fireplace with wood furnished, kitchen with microwave and refrigerator ( but no stove), washer, dryer, outdoor grill (charcoal furnished). So private that we put the shower on the screened porch, but the bath has a claw foot soaking tub. All linens and other necessities furnished.

Pleasant Getaway

Loved seeing an out-of-the-way part of our great state. Tom offered clear directions and interesting history about his family's land. The cottage is not as secluded as it was originally, but we enjoyed a long quiet morning on the screened porch overlooking the pond and much wildlife. We had a wonderful stay.

Excellent stay

A completely wonderful cabin with the most beautiful bird watching. We spent our whole time soaking in the nature on the screened in porch. We had such a fantastic time. Tom was wonderful to visit with. We will hopefully be back!

Fantastic!

Stayed one night as a stopover between Maryland and Hilton Head. Mr. Jackson may be the nicest person on the planet. Incredibly relaxing and quaint. Pond water levels were low but my 16yr old son caught a bass within 15 minutes. Will definitely return.

This farm has been in my family since Thomas Jefferson was president; I inherited in about 1980. We have transitioned from tobacco, cotton and commodity crops (which I rent out to a neighbor), to stainable farming of alliums and fresh herbs.

Why they chose this property

Why stay here ? Because we guarantee no TV, no telephone, no newspaper, no radio, and no internet connection, but we do provide a house so private that the shower is on the screened porch overlooking the pond (if you don't want to soak in the large claw foot tub in the bathroom), a fireplace with cured hardwood supplied, and two miles of private woodland trails, a small library,as well as a private fishing pond with boat. Where else can you find this ?
