About this property

2023 Game Weekends Available, Great Gameday House - Close to Shuttle & Downtown

This historic home, built for Sim and Ruby Cooper in 1906, is located near downtown Bryan and is only a short drive to Texas A&M University (6 miles to Kyle Field and with a shuttle nearby). The home was the personal residence of an Architect for 15 years and it has been completely restored and updated.

The house has approximately 3,300 square feet of living space with high ceilings, large arches, and many functioning windows. It has a well-equipped kitchen, a large family room with an HD TV, a formal dining room, a breakfast area, a parlor and a formal living room. All of the floors are hardwood and many of the furnishings are antiques.

All of the bedrooms are located on the second floor, but there is a queen sofa-sleeper and a full sofa sleeper on the first floor. Upstairs, one bedroom has twin beds, the master has a queen bed, and the other has a double bed and built-in office/workspace. An additional room upstairs off the master bedroom can be used as a dressing area, playroom or additional bedroom; it is furnished with a twin day bed and a trundle bed. This room does not have direct access from the hallway and can only be entered through the master bedroom or another bedroom. The office/workspace has a built-in workstation (computer not provided) and lots of natural light from the windows on three sides. Downstairs in the original living room (which can be easily closed off from the rest of the house) is a full sleeper sofa. In the main living area there is a queen sofa sleeper.

There is one bathroom upstairs and one bathroom downstairs. Each bathroom has a tub and shower. The bedrooms do not have private bathrooms. The bathrooms are not handicap accessible.

The large fenced yard includes a 6-8 person hot-tub, large patio and a covered porch. There is off-street parking for up to four cars and on street parking on a wide street in front.

Pets will be considered on a case by case basis.

The home is well designed for entertaining and social events. It can be rented for retreats, parties, reunions, etc. Additional charges may apply for these events.

We request that you notify us in advance if you will be entertaining more than 10 people who are not staying at the home while you are there.

Please keep in mind that this home was built before modern air conditioning and insulation were available. Although it has been fitted with two central air-conditioning units (one for each floor), when the temperature rises above 100 degrees for an extended time - the upstairs unit may not keep that area at the temperature you are accustom to as it will struggle to go below 70 degrees. It works fine other than that.

Excellent Stay for Graduation
I loved this beautiful old home! We had 8 people and we all fit in nicely. Lits of closet and storage space plus plenty of towels, dishes, whatever you can think of! We bought a few groceries and that was it! The A/C was not cooling well the 1st day…the host responded quickly and the A/C guy was out the next day for a simple fix! This would be a great place to stay for a game weekend with friends and family. It is very close to downtown Bryan and sone great restaurants and shops!

I could live here!!
Everything was perfect from start to finish. The booking and communication was amazing and the owner was very generous with allowing us to check in early if we needed to. The home is beautiful and clean… Supplied with just about anything we could’ve needed and every beds were all extremely comfortable!! We were in town for a national dog show and traveled with our show dogs who enjoyed the backyard and the space in the home to run around and play. Easy to get to… Very quiet neighborhood, Hot showers, plenty of fans and great A/C, wonderful laundry set up and plenty of room for privacy when you want time away from your other housemates… everything we were looking for in a home away from home. We hope to return!! As somebody who arranges travels all around the country all year for myself and others… I highly recommend this rental property because it is exactly what they say it is and that does not happen very often.

Christmas with Family
Our 90 year old parents who live in Bryan are no longer able to travel far, so our family wanted to bring Christmas to them instead. This beautiful old place was like a home away from home for our family. I wouldn’t recommend this home for handicapped individuals as we had trouble get our senior parents in and out of the house due to stairs with no railings at every entrance. However, once in the home, it was very lovely and we had a very special Christmas all together.

About the host

We are professionals that live and work in the B/CS area. Our office is just a few blocks away and we are available by phone, text or email if you should have any questions or encounter any problems. We own multiple long-term rentals in Bryan, College Station and Austin.

Why they chose this property

This home was our personal residence for 15 years. Shortly after completing the last of the restoration and landscaping, we purchased another home and moved. This is a very comfortable house and we loved living here. We miss the convenience of walking to the farmer's market, shops, entertainment and restaurants in downtown Bryan.

What makes this property unique

Downtown Bryan is just a few blocks away. There you can find local restaurants, shopping, live theater, restored original movie theater, brew pub, live music, and bars. A shuttle to the TAMU football games leaves from downtown. Check the City of Bryan calendar for festivals and First Friday events. On Saturday mornings you can visit the Brazos Valley Farmers Market in downtown Bryan.

Just two blocks away is Sue Haswell Memorial Park with tennis courts, a playground, 3 pavilions that can be rented from the City of Bryan, horseshoe courts, volleyball court, basketball court, and other amenities.
