Beautiful views! Needs some screens- flies were a bit of a problem.
Loved the location, but the house needs a screen door or some window screens.
This property is huge and is in an excellent location for exploring this region of Portugal. The views from this villa are just breathtaking and you would never get tired of them. A car is a must as it is located at the edge of a quiet hilltop village but there is lots to see and do within short driving distance in any direction. The mature gardens of the villa are lovely to relax in on an evening or morning and the indoor swimming pool was used a lot while we were there, it was great. If we had any querys or needed anything doing then the owners were very quick to respond. The only thing I would say is that the villa would benefit from an electric shower in at least one of the bathrooms as we had ten people with us and needed a lot of hot water. All in all we had a terrific time and really enjoyed our stay here and the kids just loved it. Thank you Rowena and Alice
Delighted your family enjoyed their holiday so much, it was a pleasure to meet you !
Beautiful villa with great views and super pool
This is a very spacious airy villa with a lovely garden and super views over the bay which is a couple of miles away. The new indoor pool was a great bonus which we enjoyed. The house is very well equipped with lots of space which should please adult groups as well as families. The resorts and local towns were within a short drive so we didn't have to spend long in the car to get to anywhere. We made a day trip to Lisbon which we did on the bus as parking is apparently bad. Overall, a great villa in a super location
I never want to leave!
I have stayed at this wonderful property several times and can highly recommend it. It is modern, spacious and well fitted out. To sit on the terrace with a glass or two of wine and watch the sun set over the Atlantic is bliss! The very extensive garden has many flowering shrubs and fruit trees. If you are lucky there will be lemons for a gin and tonic!
A car is essential but there are so many interesting and historical places in this very scenic area to visit. My favourite is the medieval walled city of Obidos. A walk on the walls gives great views over the countryside and the houses and streets are so photogenic.
Children of all ages are catered for. The enclosed bay at St Martinho has a very safe beach (great for sandcastles). Round the bay near Foz d'Arelho is a nature reserve and a huge sand dune which has to be climbed! On the main Atlantic coast there are plenty of places to surf.
Good fish restaurants are everywhere, especially on the quay in St Martinhu.
This is a great place to stay for two people or up to twelve. I never want to leave - what more can I say?
A Rare Experience
Don't be fooled by the modest aspect of this property from the end of the short country lane.
As soon as you enter the gate, you begin to realise that this is something special. First to hit you is the unexpected view West to the sea, from almost 400ft up.
Then, the beginnings of the long contour hugging, beautifully sculpted garden, which held a magical secret.
The house turns out to be huge and modern and could not possibly disappoint.
A car is definitely required. There are no restaurants or shops within walking distance and the nearest coast is a 20min drive.
Oh, the secret in the garden! At night, the fireflies in June turned it into a sparkling Christmas grotto. Quite magical.
The villa is located in a very quiet hilltop village with wonderful views towards the coast and inland.
The local beaches are all sandy, the nearest being Sao Martinho (10 minutes) and Foz d'Arelho (15). Sao Martinho is a cove and the sea is always calm. Foz d'Arelho faces both the Atlantic and a tidal sandy estuary. Peniche is idyllic for surfers and many new facilities are being developed. All have excellent facilities.
Nazare to the north is a very popular beach town with a funicular to the cliff top old town. Further north, there are many spectacular beaches hidden away.
There are many historic sites locally. The nearest is Obidos, a magnificent walled Medieval city with narrow streets, shops and cafes. It is a truly magical setting and it is possible to walk round the city walls, if you have a head for heights!
Shopping facilities are excellent with many large supermarkets in the nearby towns of Tornada and Caldas da Rainha making self catering very ea
