About Lisa Bowen
My husband Rick and I live in Maine and spend as much time as possible in Georgetown. We love the miles of undeveloped coastline the town has to offer. We dig clams, and hike the public trails available. We have 5 children and 6 grandchildren who keep us very busy. But nothing is better than family gatherings on the coast. Rick was born in New Hampshire but has spent most of his life in Maine. I moved to Maine after graduating from high school in New York. Both of us have attended Maine colleges. We are both employed but have dreams of retiring to Georgetown in the future. In the meantime, we want to make our home available to folks who want to enjoy the ocean, boating, watching the wildlife including eagles and seals, fishing, reading good books, and just enjoying the salt air.
Lisa Bowen purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Lisa Bowen chose Georgetown
Rick and I bought this property because we love Georgetown. We are in hopes that some day our children and grandchildren will want to spent all or part of their days here. Our goal in purchasing the home was to restore it and pass it along to the family.
What makes this Cottage unique
We hope that our visitors will love the screen porch which is completely redone. You can relax there, read, watch the cars pass over the bridge, or watch the tide come in and out. One living room offers spectacular views of the bay. There you can watch fish jump, seals play and eagles fly. The second living room provides a quiet place to sit and relax. There are two bedrooms on the 2nd floor - one with a queen size bed, the other with 2 twins. One living room has a full size futon. The bathroom has a shower. We have a dinning room that seats 6+. The kitchen is fully furnished with pots/pans/dishes. We supply linens and towels. The property offers a gas grill and internet. We are less than 5 miles from Reid State Park and renters have the use of a free car pass to access the miles of sandy beach there. We are only miles from Five Islands where you can bring your own wine and enjoy the best lobster roll while sitting at the picnic tables on the dock. The 5 islands surrounding make spectacular scenery. Local restaurants include the Osprey with views of Robinhood Marina and Gray Havens which overlooks the Atlantic in all it's glory. We are within walking distance to the public boat launch, so drop your boat in, tie up at our home and boat the islands while you stay with us. The boating/kayaking is amazing! We are only 15 miles from historic downtown Bath, Maine with it's maritime history. We are 40 minutes from Freeport, Maine and L.L. Beans and shopping outlets. Head north on route one and find Wiscassett or spend a day in beautiful Boothbay.

A nice vacation
Beautiful old house next to a river, 5 miles from Reid State Park. The water from the well tasted very good. A huge minus nothing to do from the property, we could not stay outside due to the mostiquoes even with the spray.
Hi Martine - I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Gem and Reid State Park. I apologize for the mosquitos. Some times are worse than others. It depends on the amount of rain we get, clouds, breeze, etc. They are an unfortunate side effect of living in a place where nature is so much a part of the daily living. Enjoy fall and winter.
A nice peaceful place to relax and enjoy Maine!
This was a quaint place with rich history. Had a great time kayaking Robinhood Cove and digging clams at Reid State Park. Glad to have the park pass as we took full advantage of the park being so close. Will definitely come back in the future! ! Loved the fact that there was a washer and dryer and that linens were provided. Thank you Lisa for a lovely week!
Paula - So glad that you and your family enjoyed your time at the Gem. Appreciate you choosing to be my guest and thank you for leaving the cottage in such terrific shape. If I can be of assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.
We’ll be back!
We loved our week at The Gem and are planning to return. The cabin is very comfortable. We loved having the State Park Pass. Our only problem: one week was not long enough!
So glad you enjoyed yourselves. Would be more than happy to be your host in the future! Enjoy the rest of summer.
Our stay at the Gem was lovely! Well kept older house with lots of charm and interesting features, nestled in a quiet town. Close to a few great restaurants (highly recommend The Anchor) and very close to Reid State Park, and not very far from Bath.
Charming cottage and wonderful owner
This small house was perfect for my daughter's little family. Having linens provided ( along with a pass to Reid State Park) and a fully outfitted kitchen makes it even more appealing. Location is near scenic water but there's no easy access from the property, but everything in Georgetown, including Reid and the 5 Islands pier are a quick and easy drive. Owner Lisa is wonderful, responsive and accommodating. She left a baby gate there for the stairwell when she heard the ages of the grandkids. We would rent again without hesitation.
Thanks so much for your positive review. Loved having your family as our guests and I'm so happy it met your expectations and needs. It is a place meant for relaxation and fun! Enjoy what is left of summer.
Cute, cozy cottage
We had a great time and the Gem was a great place to come back to every night to rest and relax. Had everything we needed.
Randy - Thanks for staying with us and for being wonderful guests. Very happy that your vacation went well and that you found the cottage to your liking. Enjoy the rest of summer! Lisa
