About John Klingerman
I was born and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania and have always been an avid outdoorsman, avid skier and a devoted follower of the Olympic games. I have travelled and skied throughout the United States and Canada but there is something about the Olympic Village of Lake Placid that has kept me coming back year after year and eventually lured me to build two vacation homes overlooking Mirror Lake, just minutes from town.
John Klingerman purchased this House in 2006
Why John Klingerman chose Lake Placid
There are many upscale choices in the Lake Placid area but I think you will find that the location, amenities and price of this property will keep you coming back many years into the future. In addition to Robyn's Nest, I have built a 5 bedroom house directly next door which suits well whenever the groups traveling together become too big for one house.
What makes this House unique
The native stone combined with the rough cut logs and post-and-beam style construction make you feel like you are truly living in the Adirondacks. Location and the view of Mirror Lake are added benefits of this luxury home.

Wonderful house! Great location
The house is very user friendly. We were a group of seven- just perfect for that. Has great country feel - loved loved loved
Beautiful property; great location
John, the owner, was accommodating and welcoming. The house is beautifully and tastefully decorated.
As for a few minor issues, I’m mentioning them here first because they weren’t really problems. The deck, grill, and deck furniture hadn’t been cleaned prior to arrival, and we found the kitchen a bit lacking in terms of some basic amenities, such as more varied pots and pans. The place could benefit from a few more chairs for dining, etc. (There is only table seating for 6 and a counter with three stools). There were a handful of minor things like loose handles, etc. that we reported to the property manager. We were surprised not to find an information binder/guest book in the home...that was a first. None of these things impacted our stay negatively, however, and they are the only minor things I can raise. The property manager was very prompt and responsive when I communicated these minor things early in our stay.
The more important thing is to say that the location is excellent...very convenient to town and yet also a feeling of privacy and solitude being across Mirror Lake from the buzz of downtown. The house is comfortable and quiet. Our kids loved the bunk room.
Great House & Location
The house was perfect for our group of eight.
Adults had their own bedrooms and the three kids had a ball on the lower level with the bunk room, bathroom and large play area including a pool table. The great room with wood burning fireplace had the perfect adirondack feel with plenty of space for all. A short walk to the center of Lake Placid was an added bonus. Renting this house again would be our first choice when we return to the area.
Great house to spread out with a large group. Plenty of room to sleep. Plenty of yard to hang outside. Easy walk to the water and to downtown for food and drink. Solid location.
Great Place to Stay
We really enjoyed our stay here. The Klingerman's and the property manager were extremely easy to deal with and accommodating. The house was exactly as described and perfect for our large, extended family's stay.
Perfect House for our Large Group
Staying at Robin's Nest was a great experience. With 12 of us traveling, it was spacious enough for us to each have our own place to sleep comfortably. We enjoyed the close proximity to town. Our only complaint was a shortage of kitchen supplies but we made due, we just had to run the dishwasher many times. Otherwise this was a perfect place to stay and we definitely recommend if you ever have a large group visiting Lake Placid.
Maybe you're not an Olympian, but if you're looking for a top-notch winter sports destination, Lake Placid is the place for you. Try bobsledding, downhill skiing, ice climbing, speed skating, ski jumping, or just enjoy spending time at the town's many boutique stores and restaurants. Summer offers even more activities in and around the beautiful Adirondack State Park, which happens to be larger than Yosemite or Yellowstone National Parks.
