One Bedroom Condo Overlooking Ginger Bay / Shanty Bay Beach.
About Tom Archer
Our family connection to Barbados date back to the 1700's, well before sugar and rum took over the Caribbean. My siblings and I were the first generation of my father's family to grow up off the island. We grew up in Canada. Our family has always had property on the island and we are blessed to call Ginger Bay our second home. My wife and two adult children live in Ontario Canada and visit as much as possible. My siblings live in BC which make it more difficult to visit.
Tom Archer purchased this Condo in 1996
Why Tom Archer chose Belair
Our great-grandfather had owned quite a bit of vacation property in St. Philip. He would stay in the parish when he could get a break from running his estate on the west or 'platinum' coast of the island (Sandy Lane). My father and aunt have taken me through many of the buildings where he and other members of the family stayed over the years. I have lovely old photo of him as an elderly man climbing up our cliff wearing his Sunday best.
What makes this Condo unique
Ginger Bay is situated on a coral cliff overlooking the tourquise sea and secluded pink beaches below. There is a steady atlantic sea breeze that makes you forget you are in a country where most homes require air conditioning during the day and night. The condo is far away from the noise and crowds found in the busy south and west coasts of the island. The complex is very quiet with the only noise at night being the waves crashing on the beach and the whistling frogs singing you to sleep. For those leery of the surf, a refreshing swim can be had in the pool.

A great place to sit and relax to enjoy what nature has in front of you
So glad you enjoyed your vacation. Isn't mother nature majestic?
Great place for a relaxing holiday
We had a wonderful relaxing week at Ginger Bay. The well maintained apartment is in a great location on a cliff overlooking a beautiful beach, and only a 10-15 minute drive from the airport. The pool and deck area are also first rate, and the property is a short walk to the Crane Resort that houses a number of top notch restaurants. We were also pleasantly surprised by a number of unexpected bonus features - a garmin, pre-paid cell phones and 2 bikes!
We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your Barbados vacation and Ginger Bay stay so much. It makes us so glad to know that others enjoy our neighborhood as much as ourselves!

Beautiful and charming property with friendly people and great views
I can’t say enough good things about my stay at Ginger Bay. I was quite sad to leave on my final day in Barbados. Waking up every morning to the awesome view and interacting with the friendly people who resides in the complex was all that I could hope for. Tom was a great host and very communicative and friendly. He included many things that made our trip spectacular including a GPS and cell phones. It is easy to get lost on the island if you are unfamiliar so these things were quite helpful. This location is not far from the airport but I suggest renting a car to travel and explore the island as the rough waters near here are not recommended for swimming. We felt very safe here. I would stay again and again!
Great Quiet Spot Away from the Crowds
Nice clean place with everything you need. And the view being right on the water is unreal. And a pool that is almost private it is so seldom used by the other units. Great hidden gem. I almost don't want to write a review so it doesn't get too popular!
Wes: We are so glad you enjoyed your visit to our vacation home. Come back anytime!

Fantastic find on south east coast near the Crane!
This was a fantastic find! Unit is on ground floor with covered patio and stunning views of Ginger Bay on the south east coast of Barbados. Breeze is constant on this side of the island so leaving windows open at night is a real treat - no need for AC! You can walk along the coast or sidewalk to Crane Beach and Crane hotel property - less than 1 km away and a beautiful walk. Cutters is also nearby and has the best rum punch on the island! Property has only 10 or so units, so very private and quiet - the perfect place to relax poolside, or on a secluded tropical beach. Loved taking the public transit into Bridgetown and Oistens, and exploring the rugged coast line north towards Sam Lord's Castle. Property is safe and secure, and neighbours couldn't be more friendly and hospitable. Can't wait to go back!!
Beds are super comfortable, unit is clean and well appointed - everything you need for some serious down time.
So glad you enjoyed your stay! Tom Archer
Our condo unit is part of the Ginger Bay condo complex of 10 units. The unit has two queen beds in the one bedroom. There is a pull-out couch in the living room. There is a shared pool, tennis court, and laundry facilities. The unit has a full bathroom and fully stocked kitchen. Our condo is on the ocean side of the complex. The pool is shared with other members of the condo development. Guests are welcome to use the snorkelling equipment, beach chairs, boogie board, beach coolers, and other outdoor equipment.
The condo complex is very quiet. Most of the other units are owned by 'Bajans' who use their units for long weekends, statutory and ‘bank’ holidays.
Our front lawn ends at the coral stone cliff overlooking the sea. There are stairs carved out of the coral stone that take you down to the beach below. Our beach is one beach up from the world famous Crane Beach Resort.
The waves on our beach can be quite large at times. Many guests enjoy body surfing, Bogie Boarding, and getting knocked around. That being said, guests unfamiliar with large waves may want to stick to the pool or visit other beaches on the island. Our unit is ideal for guests who want to get away from it all and are not looking for 5 star accomodation with concierge service, television or internet.
If you have been to St. Phillips Parish before you may know it by the entrance to the beaches through lead the cave called ‘Jack’s hole’. The nearest shopping is at 6 Cross Roads, which is a 5 - 10 minute car/ taxi ride away.
The Crane Beach Hotel has several restaurants, some tourist shopping and a convenience store. It is the only hotel nearby (300 metres down the beach). Other nearby restaurants include Cutters and Marco Polo.
Our condo is a good distance away from the lively nightlife, shopping, crowds, and touristy type of things available on the island, although most day tours / activities (Jolly Roger, Catamaran tours, Rum tours etc…) will pick you up and drop you off without additional charge. Most guests rent a car.
