- From San Diego take 805 North or I-5 North (they join by La Jolla) 35 miles to Poinsettia/ Aviara (about 35 miles north between La Costa and Palomar Airport exits). From LA, Orange County take i-5 South or the 405 south, about 25 miles south of San Clemente. At Poinsettia/Aviara, go east 1/3 mile to signal at Battiquitos. Turn right, then left on 2nd street at Poppy, right on Azalea, then right to 915 Begonia Court. Please put dishes in dish washer. Put all bedding and towels used on the floor in the laundry room. Please put all three trash barrels out Monday night. If you arrive before 4:00 PM, our cleaning person may still be there if she was scheduled for your arrival date. It is OK to enter the house to leave your bags in the entry and put things in the refrigerator, but please allow her to do her work by checking out the area or going for a late lunch. The same when you check out if she is scheduled for that day, you can leave your bags in the entry. We will let you know when she is scheduled. Our gardener usually comes on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 7:00 AM (front/back) Please keep garage door closed. Keep both side gates locked. Keys are on top of fence near both gates. Keep umbrellas down if windy or when not there. Close all windows when leaving. Feel free to use beach chairs, boogie boards, beach mats, bikes, coffee, fire place in the back yard, Barbeque, etc. There should be an extra propane bottle for the Bar B Que and Fire pit. If you need more propane, there is a U-Haul on Coast Highway near Oceanside Blvd or several other places that do an exchange. Please do not allow pets or smoking in the house. This is a personal family home used by us, our children, friends and select guests. Some things to do around Carlsbad Our absolute favorite place in Carlsbad for breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and deli (European meat market with meats, sausages, Spätzle, Knodles, candy, wine, beer, etc) is Tip Top Meats on Paseo Del Norte, west before I-5 and a mile north (on the way to Costco and the outlet mall).. http://tiptopmeats.com/ There are lots of stores and other restaurants in and around the outlet mall. Pelly’s Fish Market next to Ralph’s has good lunch and dinner to go plus has a few tables. Restaurant Row is in San Marcos east on Palomar Airport Road. Downtown Carlsbad also has many restaurants including Mikko Japanese restaurant at I5 and Carlsbad Village Blvd. Karl Straus Brew Pub is on Armada next to the Flower Fields north of the Costco gas station... Approximate Dates: July 17th - September 4th Historic Del Mar race track is beautiful even if you don’t bet or into horse racing much, it is beautiful setting with court yards and buildings. http://www.dmtc.com/ My favorite beach in Moonlight Beach Encinitas I-5 south 3 miles to Encinitas Blvd, then west. It has lots of free parking on the hill above the beach, snack bar, restrooms, kid’s playground and showers. Ponto is just below South Carlsbad State Beach, but parking can be a problem. Oceanside beach is very nice with lots of pay parking, a pier, kid’s playgrounds, food, showers and places to eat. There is a Ralph's grocery store and strip mall just below I-5 from the house (go left on the street between I-5 and Coast Highway. The Outlet Mall and Costco are on Palomar Airport Road one mile north from Poinsettia, just east of I-5. Trader Joe’s is on Palomar Airport east about five miles on the right. There should be a Coaster schedule (train to San Diego) in the magazine rack. The station is on the street with Ralph's and north about a mile. There are also magazines in the rack on 101 things to do in San Diego, Encinitas, Huntington Beach, and Carlsbad. Another place worth going to is the Cedros design and/art district in Solana Beach (south between Encinitas and Del Mar). You can take I-5, but Coast Highway is better. http://www.ci.solana-beach.ca.us/csite/cms/home.htm San Diego is nice for Anthony’s restaurant, views of the harbor, to0ur of the USS Midway aircraft carrier, Seaport Village. There are numerous parks in Carlsbad. The new 32-acre Alga Norte Community Park, located at the corner of Alicante Road and Poinsettia Lane, just east of El Camino Real, features a state of the art aquatic center, San Diego County’s largest skate park, three ball fields, basketball courts, a huge playground, and picnic and barbecue areas. http://www.carlsbadca.gov/services/departments/parksandrec/parks-facilities/parks/Pages/Alga-Norte-Community-Park.aspx Poinsettia Community Park 6600 Hidden Valley Rd. East of Costco ¼ mile, turn right, then uphill ½ mile. This 42-acre park contains the largest public tennis complex in the city, featuring 10 lighted tennis courts. One last recommendation is Leo Carrillo State park about 6 miles east of the house. http://www.carlsbadca.gov/services/departments/parksandrec/parks-facilities/parks/Pages/leo-carrillo-ranch-main.aspx San Diego, Carlsbad, and Huntington Beach each have a “101 things to do” magazine.
