Riol is a small village at the Mosel with approximately 1100 inhabitants. Life here is very influenced by wine growing and you can try and buy in romantic and cosy wine tasting bars and caverns. Riol has won 'Germany's most beautiful village' competition on several occasions. There are countless leisure possibilities. In Trier, Germany's oldest city, you an visit: the Roman Emsperor's Bath, the Porta-Nigra (Roman city gate) the Cathedral and the Emperors Palace. You will also find the birth house of our most well known citizen Karl Marx, who was born and spent his childhood and youth here. Our neighbours Luxemburg and France are just a few kilometres away.
