About Guy and Claire Viccars
We are a couple that originated from Cornwall where we both grew up in the holiday industry. After careers in the marine industry, super-yachts and economic regeneration we have found our little piece of paradise here in Lagrasse. After a 5 year and 600 ton renovation the secrets of the property have been revealed, providing some of the most amazing architecture, sculptures and paintings from the Cathar period. Supplying plenty of things to see and talk about over a cold glass.
Guy and Claire Viccars purchased this Apartment in 2004
Why Guy and Claire Viccars chose Lagrasse
The house is nearly a 1000 years old. It has a unique past and an ongoing story that seems to build with every room you walk in to.
What makes this Apartment unique
To much to tell so we will wet your whistle: Sculptures of the chief knight for the abbey of Lagrasse ( the true location of the Cathar trial); Painting's of the battles dating back to the 13th century. The first 26 paintings have been restored with some on display at the village 'Maison de Patrimone;' 15 arches with the last 13th century arch finally put in situ in the early part of 2014 completing a loving renovation of an immensely historic house; Great company, cold local wines and our legendary BBQs!

Perfect spot in Lagrasse
Perfectly situated in the walled village of Lagrasse. Wonderful garden courtyard for relaxing and recharging after exploring the area. There are four separate units all sharing the courtyard but enough space for privacy if you wish. We stayed in the Garden Unit (ground level) - spacious and good layout with modern kitchen and bathroom, living room and bedroom open to each other. King size bed (may be two twin beds together) was super comfortable. The property owners (Guy and Claire) are wonderful hosts and provide advice on things to do in the area, local hikes/walks, restaurants, etc. Overall this place is amazing!
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is very much appreciated. It was lovely to meet you both and great to hear that you enjoyed staying in the Garden Studio and enjoyed the garden and pool. Lagrasse is a wonderful location with so much to offer. A perfect place to explore the history of the surrounding area.
Best wishes to you both.

3 days in Lagrasse
Lagrasse is simply beautiful with amazing places to eat wrapped in history on your doorstep and landscape to die for. Guy and Claires’ accommodation is as good as its possible to get, everything is provided. The only downside was we couldn’t stay longer. We’ll be back.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. It is very much appreciated and lovely to hear that you enjoyed stay in the Garden Studio and enjoyed what Lagrasse and the surrounding area has to offer. It really is a special village. Wonderful stay at Holidays in Lagrasse
We stayed in the Garden Studio in April 2019.
From the first entry into the village until leaving a week later we enjoyed our stay enormously.
The site of Holidays in Lagrasse makes for both easy access and easy unloading of luggage, good access to parking and to the village amenities.
Guy and Claire gave us a very warm welcome.
They provided excellent suggestions for sightseeing, drives and restaurants.
They have done an amazing job of recovering and renovating the property into a charming and functional space.
The courtyard is a lovely quiet oasis, secure and off the street.
The Garden Studio is spacious, beautiful, comfortable, well equipped, and well maintained. And it has it’s very own stone arch!
In our six weeks in France Holidays in Lagrasse was a highlight.
Thank you so much for leaving a lovely review. It is very much appreciated. We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Lagrasse and the Garden Studio and that our suggestions on where to eat and visit were helpful. We are very fortunate to live in such a lovely area and Guy has worked so hard to create a little piece of paradise!
We wish you both well and hope to welcome you in the future.

Very comfortable and well equipped, with very friendly and helpful hosts
Guy and Claire run a lovely place. The garden studio is very comfortable and well equipped, for indoor and outdoor living. The property is superbly located for exploring Lagrasse and further afield, with many good restaurants and bars within a couple of minutes' walk. Guy and Claire are very friendly and attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed, including great ideas for places to visit and eat in the region. The garden is a nice oasis of peace and quiet - we had the special treat of musicians next door practising for the Lagrasse music festival. It was great to be serenaded while we had dinner! As dog owners we were very pleased to find somewhere that is very dog friendly and only a stone's throw from a field ideal for dog walking. We hope we get the chance to go back!
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. It was lovely to meet you both and young Missi. Glad that you enjoyed your stay in the Garden Studio. We are very fortunate that Lagrasse is in a great location from which to explore the area and a village with a host of restaurants and artisans. Good to hear that you enjoyed the musicians practicing - again very fortunate to listen to such world class talent right on our doorstep.
We wish you both well and hope to welcome you back int he future.

`Delighted with what greeted us beyond the door, like entering a secret garden.
We loved the garden apartment. It had everything you could possibly need, and more. It was a privilege to stay in a place that has been so lovingly, sympathetically and professionally restored. You have our deepest admiration, Guy. You, too, Claire for your contribution and making and keeping everything so beautiful. It was a pleasure to meet you both and your great boys. We will return to lovely Lagrasse.. June and David Jones
Thank you for the lovely review. So glad that you enjoyed staying in the Garden Studio and enjoyed the whole history and ambience that Guy has created throughout the renovations. It is a beautiful Studio. I always say I keep it clean and scatter cushions around!
We really enjoyed meeting you both and glad that you enjoyed your time here in Lagrasse.
We hope to welcome you back in the future.
Best wishes to you both.

With consistent temperatures in the mid to late 20's from May to September this part of Southern France has something to offer everyone, with its colourful landscape which changes dramatically through the seasons.
Lagrasse is situated just 30 minutes drive from Carcassonne and 40 minutes from Narbonne. Both these wonderful cities are steeped in history with many beautiful and interesting places to explore. Lagrasse has something for everyone - bars, restaurants, local artisan shops, local supermarkets and a boulangerie to name but a few. During the summer 'brocantes' are held where you will pick up all sorts of wonderful and quirky artifacts. There is a market every Saturday in the village square where fresh regional produce can be sampled and purchased. Throughout the year you will find many events are held in the village, live music and classical concerts such as En Blanc et Noir. During July a internationally renowned music festival is held that engulfs the entire village. There are of course fireworks and live music to celebrate Bastille Day on July the 14th and in August there is an international ‘Banquet du Livres’ situated within the old stone walls of the medieval banqueting hall All these lively and fun things will ensure a typically French atmosphere is found and most definitely enjoyed!
A two minute stroll up the main street will bring you to the tennis courts & the football & boules pitches. Sailing & windsurfing can be found 30 minutes drive away, so there is also something to occupy the more sporty! Skiing is only 2 hours away too. For those wanting a truly relaxing French village experience there is the pretty beach on the river Orbieu which is only a stone's throw away through the cobbled streets. Superb fishing is also found on this river & with the Canal de Midi close by, tranquil boat trips are a must. Wonderful walks can be found in and around the village which can be tailored to suit individual needs. So whether you are wanting an invigorating hike high up in the hills or a gentle stroll along the river bank this region walking will suit all. Cycling is a fun way to explore the cobbled streets of the village and the surrounding areas we have bikes available to use. The Tour de France passes nearby each year and the tree lined roads are filled with spectators who travel from around the globe to cheer the cyclists on their way! Within easy driving distance you will also find a myriad of Cathar castles and ruins to explore.
The beautiful beaches of Leucate, Gruissan and La Franqui are located approximately 35 minutes drive away and offer all you would expect from French seaside towns. Port Leucate and its weather conditions are perfect for wind surfing, bringing keen surfers from all over Europe to hop on their boards here! There are 2 fun Aqua parks located within an hour of the house and a pirate theme park in Gruissan. In Carcassonne and Leucate there are the O2 Aventura Parcs where older children and adults can test their climbing skills - and their head for heights - in the tree top adventure park. In Sigean there is an African Safari Park which plays host - to amongst other things - elephants, lions and rhinos.
