About Elizabeth Davidson
We LOVE to travel. We've been in London, India, Scandinavia, Mexico, Dubai and Necker Island in the last 18 months. We fell in love with San Miguel on a vacation, and hope you do the same. ***Staying with us makes the world a better place. We use a portion of your rental to fund building houses for the less fortunate in Mexico and Latin America. We've built 11 houses so far and aim to have 20 houses built by the end of 2019.***

Why Elizabeth Davidson chose Zona Centro
As you'll discover when you talk with folks ALL the locals wish they lived on our block and in our colonial, "Guadiana." Centro is lovely to visit, but honestly no one wants to live there. Late night noise, church bells, traffic and crowds. Our apartments are totally secluded and located behind a high security gated wall. The units set far back from the frontage street buffering them from all the noise and bustle. Here in beautiful Guadiana we have a lush park, flat cobblestone tree-lined streets, and beautiful mansions on every corner, many restaurants, coffee bars, yoga studios, organic grocery and the most incredible quality of life in all of San Miguel de Allende. We found out the hard way. We rented 6 properties in 1 year because they were unlivable by our standards. We paid $2500-$3000 per month and even so... In 1 place there was no hot water for 3 weeks. None. In 1 place there was so much car noise we had to scream to hear each other. In another rental the firecrackers and church bells were so loud we slept 3 hours a night. In another rental, the kitchen sink stopped working and we had NO 2 months. Another place had no heaters and was so cold we lived in the bedroom of a 5,000 house under an electric blanket. We decided to create the property WE and other like-minded travelers would LOVE living in. Ahhh, No middle of the night noise AND super comfy mattress-topper beds! Each of our 3 sunny apartments has great plumbing, plenty of hot water and pressure, fast internet access and each bedroom has its own heater. We offer lovely clean bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens, spacious living areas and two of our three units have outdoor garden patios to savor the wonderful SMA weather.
What makes this Apartment unique
Sleep soundly and peacefully through the night! We don't have the common problem of firecrackers and church bells that plague other centrally located properties. Our apartment is located in the pristine and sought out district of "Guadiana" and is just 30 seconds from the serene Guadiana Park. It's a 3 minute walk to many restaurants and only 8 minutes to the cultural hub, Institute Allende and a mere 10 minute flat walk to the Jardin centro. Those that can afford to live in Guadiana do; Italian coffee place, Russian pastry shop, great Thai food and the very best Lebanese food I've ever tasted. All of these places are NOT where the tourists go. Many of them are known ONLY to SMA residents. We will have our insiders guide waiting for you! You don't need a car as you can walk everywhere. Taxi's are about $2.50 a ride and very easy to find. You'll also receive 10% off at our favorite gourmet restaurants, clothing stores, and my own breakfast FAV, the gluten free waffle shop! If you have a car, we have plenty of well-lit and safe street parking right in front of the property. Our property sets far back from the street. You access it through a private covered entry passageway, so we have superb safety and seclusion. Plus we are on one of the most exclusive streets in SMA with the beautiful Guadiana Park and majestic colonial mansions located on every corner.

We stayed almost a month in apt. 2 on the second floor. Checkin was easy. We were right where we wanted to be with the park only few steps down the street and a laundry right across the street. Jonathan and Pedro respond to fix whatever was found needing repair. Overall, a pleasant place for a short stay. No private outside space but the park is close and uncrowned.
When we arrived we Found that one of the bathrooms had black mold on the ceiling. It was painted over after we brought it to the attention of the maintenance worker and owner. However we encountered many other issues: the bathroom water pump made a loud noise like a jackhammer each time it activated due to a leak. The throw rugs throughout the home were dirty. Most Of the light fixtures did not work because they Either had no bulbs or the bulbs were burnt out. While we were there two of the ceiling lights Also burnt out, leaving the dining room and one bedroom dark. One of the two heaters did not work. We brought all this To the attention of the Jonathan and Estabon and the maids because the owner told us to tell them, not her, but this made for an uncomfortable stay because Nothing was taken care of. Why should we have to be bringing up these kinds of issues? Shouldn’t the apartment be checked regularly for these kind of issues? We got Ill and decided to leave one week early because we felt staying there to recover would not be a pleasant place to stay. We expected more from what we saw online and from the owner.
I have visited San Miguel de Allende several times and have found that Guadiana is my favorite location. This property is perfectly located just steps away from a lovely, well-tended park, a great market, restaurants and coffee shops. Though you will likely want to walk the 15 minutes nearly flat walk to the center, buses stop nearby and taxis are plentiful and easy to catch at the corner just a 3 minute walk from the apartment. Elizabeth was a wonderful host and offered many useful suggestions regarding how to spend one's time in San Miguel. The apartment was spacious and comfortable. The showers had excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. The beds were very comfortable with good quality linens. I loved the large windows in the sitting area and front bedroom providing wonderful natural light! One feels very safe as this property is gated. There is no outside sitting area, however, for one to sit and enjoy the beautiful weather. My one suggestion is for better lighting in the area from the door off the street to the steps of the home.Although there were just two of us using the unit, it would be comfortable for 4 or 6 as well. I will happily return.
We loved hosting you, and look forward to your next stay with us in SMA!
Great time in SMA
Jonthan was very responsive to our requests. Very nice maid. Kitchen needs a corkscrew and sharper knives. Very cozy.
Hi Peggy, thanks for staying with us. We replaced the corkscrew (the previous guest must have taken it as a souvenir) and now there's a knife sharper. :-)
Nice location in San Miguel de Allende
Great location. An easy walk to everything. Ample space for 4 people to do yoga in the living room. Typical of some older Mexican dwellings, a gas heater that is iffy and toilets that won't tolerate toilet paper -- but, this is Mexico after all. There is an organic market down the road and a terrific bakery (Panio) a little bit farther. We had a very nice time in San Miguel.
We are so glad that you had such a nice time with us in SMA. Thanks for reaching out to us about staying with us again next year. :-)
Most comfortable beds in Mexico!
Great location! Our hosts shared their tips for shopping and eating--enchanting walks to the Jardin and a local collective, Mercado SANO--great food! But those beds--with high-quality linens and pillows, what a treat!
So great that other travelers know how comfy our beds are. We spent a fortune on the beds knowing how important a good night's sleep is.
You are surrounded by an incredible array of superb restaurants, shops, art galleries, and lovely sights right at our doorstep, as well as many other interesting and fun things to do!
The Local Market is Mercado Sano -organic foods, coffees and restaurant 3-minute walk (I've timed it!) from our home.
It's filled to the brim with exquisite art pieces and special touches. We travel globally so our home has pieces from Indonesia, India, Brazil, England and Mexico.
Our house manager, Lilliana has lived here for over 10 years and is a gracious and helpful hostess. She can help you design a retreat or vacation depending on what you are looking for. She can also set up local sight seeing tours, hot springs outings or set up culinary, art or cultural tours.
Services available on site for an extra charge include therapeutic massages, manicures, pedicures, art classes and private yoga.
Also, this has a small service kitchen which we find super useful as the restaurants here are so good.
We would love to have you come and stay with us! Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions.
