Tom is a Solar Field Service Engineer for Positive Energy Solar in Santa Fe. This is the biggest project yet - a 3200 square foot active and passive solar house with solar radiant heat and solar hot water. The eight acres will be developed into a working organic farm and permaculture food forest. Why Tom Engel chose La Puebla

After living south of Santa Fe for five years, Tom looked around for a place that might allow for a large hobby farm. When he saw Paradise Pond, that was it. Perfectly located in a traditional acequia village that still operates in the traditional way of the local people digging the acequias by hand each year and creating community and distributing water through the work of the local people - no fossil fuels required. Throughout the world there are few viable acequias left. Some of the best are in Northern New Mexico. Tom is thrilled to have found such a unique and beautiful spot and want to share it with others.

What makes this Guest house unique

This house and property was developed in 1997 by Frances Harwood, a well known local anthropologist and solar pioneer. She lived here completely off grid - but this isn't your usual conception of an off grid house. She combined abundance, elegance and beauty with ecological nature-based solutions to create an oasis of beauty that also provides own energy and water. She founded Ecoversity in Santa Fe and was a true visionary in eco living. Her untimely death in 2004 for a while left her vision behind. I want to honor what she started and have felt that her vision was in kindred spirits with my own. In the Santa Fe tradition, her work does live on and I am enjoying discovering all the wonders of her life's work through this land and this house. Since I only have the one vacation rental, I can provide the service you want to make your vacation ideal for you. If you need quiet and privacy, that's what you will get.
