Our home is located in the Bywater Historic District. It is a classic shotgun with a great front porch located 3 blocks from the Mississippi River and Crescent Park on a quiet, walkable, tree-lined street. Many of the best Bywater restaurants close by: Satsuma, Elizabeth's, Pizza Delicious, Bratz Ya'll, Suis Generis, Bywater American Bistro, The Joint, Country Club and Bacchanal. The Food Coop grocery store is close by too as well as a full service Robe'rt Grocery. It is a 30 min walk to the French Quarter and 20 min walk to Frenchmen Street for Jazz. An Uber is less than $10 to the Quarter. Buses close by too.

The home is 1/2 of a historic double shotgun. Completely private and independent from the other 1/2. A shotgun means you walk through one room to get to the next. Queen bed on the first floor and Cali King on the second floor. Eat in kitchen, great front porch for people watching and a private back patio area that is shared with the tenants. Full washer/dryer and all new kitchen appliances.

The Bywater is a cool neighborhood of shotgun houses and creole cottages, and is home to a thriving bohemian art scene. It is a bit east (down river) from the French Quarter with a fun mix of local folks who grew up here, and more recent bohemian arrivals. Artists and musicians relocated here when the French Quarter became too pricey. It's not uncommon to hear the sounds of a piano or guitar playing in the afternoon through an open window.

There are lively pubs, restaurants and randomly placed artwork on corners. Over the past few years it has become quite popular with visitors and residents from other parts of the city because of the neighborhood's old-time, laid-back charm.

Crescent Park, just blocks from the house, offers some of the best riverfront views in New Orleans. It is a 1.4 mile, 20-acre park that winds alongside the Mississippi. It's one of the coolest places on earth and great for morning walks. You cross over into the park via a giant iron "Rusty rainbow" which takes you over the railroad tracks and into the park with dramatic views of the Mississippi River and downtown New Orleans.
