Very clean environment, friendly staff and exceptional landscaping around the pool area. Also very convenient to The Oakland Market Grill and other restaurants. Plus Jack London Square was two blocks away!

Pros: Amenities: had a fridge & an ok help yourself coffee bar. Room: knocked about furniture, tv wouldn’t work. Doubled frosted plastic coating on window glass imprisoned any ‘view’ ? Staff: couldn’t crack a smile as their demeanour screamed “Get me out of here I’d rather be anywhere else !!!! “ Attitude varied between occasionally nice, to intolerant verging on anger. Cons: Train noise is excruciating -as if the room was set upon the tracks themselves. The heating was out on our recent freezing cold spell. We were offered a 10% discount- if we asked & portable heaters - if we complained. I stayed 3 nightsand andcwas sick from the fumes of paining & ingrained poor quality ventilation -very old and unmaintained cleanliness. Halls are musty, knocked around and carpets filthy & stained. Often found drug paraphernalia lying on the floor. Upon leaving the clothes I hung but didn’t even wear, wreaked of the rooms natural stench. I vomited, itched and scratched after leaving the toxic smelling hotel and didn’t feel clean for a couple of days after the effects had settled. Appalling attack on the senses and as another guest commented - this place should be on a permanent 80% discounts!!! Ugh!👎👎👎

great hotel. somewhat noisy as we were next to street - garbage pick up - but also from upstairs. no lock on the window. staff very pleasant and helpful. loved the buttercup diner.

Handy location, for sport.

If you're attending a game at Oracle or the Coliseum the Z Hotel is a good choice, it's a 20 minute uber (if you can find one after the game!) ride and it an area of Oakland that is undergoing quite a bit of change. There are a few bars in the area and the diner attached to the hotel has plenty of comfort food choices at reasonable prices. Jack London Square doesnt offer a lot in terms of attractions or things to do other than bars, so I wouldnt plan to stay too much longer either side of game day.

Reasonable hotel

The hotel was clean , staff very helpful and a reasonable price for the area. Location close to cafes , restaurants and the ferry . Bart was 10 minutes walk . We visited for a concert and used the free shuttle. If you are a light sleeper then the passing trains thru out the night , tooting may bother you. It did the first night and 2nd night a better sleep. Overall convenient and clean but no frills.
