A gem in a great location
This is a wonderful property in a fantastic location. Rusty and Patrick are thoughtful hosts who provide lots of great information. The property is clean, well furnished, beds are comfortable, and it provided a great place to relax and hang out. Easy walk to lots of great shops and restaurants, easy access to the Metro, and overall a great place to stay.
Walking distance to a plethora of dining options. Beautiful neighborhood of brownstones.
Spacious, gracious, comfortable
This apartment was beautiful and spacious, very comfortable, and well located. Our hosts were kind and attentive and very easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend it!
Nice cozy place close to everything
We stayed at the place for 5 days while visiting Washington. Rusty and team have done a phenomenal job maintaining the place and even though the house is likely quite old, it does not feel that way. It is quite close to all the monuments and one of the best things we did is to not rent a car. Each place is within 2-3 miles of the house if you want to walk. If not you would do Uber or Lyft and still not rack up too much of a bill. Parking at any of the places will be very very hard. We ended up walking to most places - some days were upto 10kms in total.
Restaurants and grocery stores were close by and easily accessible. Thereˋs a really nice mexican place - El Sol close by and a breakfast place called Tedˋs Bulletin that you could easily walk to. Thereˋs also Traderˋs Joe and a Whole Foods within walking distance. Rusty was super nice and very helpful on all fronts including letting us in a bit early due to our flight schedules. Three things I would recommend improving within the house:
- Consider better noiseproofing on the windows - maybe some rubber strips or something else. I am not sure why but there is a lot of ambulance/police car noise late into the night. Everyone in Washington also uses their car horn a fair bit.
- While the weather was really nice during our stay, it was really warm during our last night. Even though we moved the dial on the thermostat it really did not do anything. Opening the windows would have led to a lot of noise coming in. Again it may be us but we were not sure if the house had air conditioning. We did use the fans as Rusty had suggested. The house has high ceilings so its not a huge issue.
- The couch in the main living room has feathers in it. While its quite comfortable, it can get a bit ˋpokeyˋ. Not a big deal but something to consider for Rusty.
Overall we had a great stay and we would love to come back here if we come back to Washington. Thank you for letting us stay at your place.
We loved the townhouse! Great location, comfortable and plenty of room for a family of four. Rusty is a great host and was easy to reach if we had any questions. We admittedly did not cook anything there but the kitchen had what was needed if you wanted to cook. Beds were comfortable and the decor was fun and colorful. Tvs worked great. No issues for us to enjoy our time.
DC is a fun city with tons to see. Use the scooters if you’re able to because they’ll get you around quickly and are a lot of fun. We could have used another week there to see everything. We will be back.
Wonderful hosts, good location.
The owners were very easy to communicate with. The house works well for two couples, with bedrooms on two different floors. Easy walk to transportation and groceries. Lots of info on the area in the house as well as terrific movie options. Earplugs were provided but we didn’t need them.
