Aspen is very expensive so there are inevitably going to be compromises:
The location is good- on Main st, 1 or 2 blocks to bus stops to town or the other resorts and a 5-10 min walk to town. It would be nice to be right in town but that's an easy compromise.
The lounge, breakfast area, reception is very nice and is kept very clean by the staff. The fireplace and central chimney is terrific
The room was pretty good- clean, good bedding, a little tired but kept well. The towels we very white and good. We had 2 king beds when we had asked for 1. As a result the room feels small but they told us they only had 2 rooms with one bed so what can you do.
The only big negative was the "garden view" room was, infact, below ground with no view into a window well 10" across. This made the room very dark and not pleasant, especially since we were both sick during the 5 days we were there spending 2 full days in the room when we should have been skiing. If you book a garden view room (any on the 1st floor_ know that you only have one small 1/2 window.
The staff were terrific- professional, and helpful. They would have moved us if they hadn't been booked.
