About Jo Place
We love travelling and especially the beach! We live on a farm in the Adelaide Hills and run cattle and sheep and the normal menagerie of farm pets including dogs, chickens, guinea pigs etc. Whenever we need a break from farm work, we duck down to the shack to reinvigorate ourselves! Whenever we can, we also head overseas to explore countries we have never seen.
Jo Place purchased this House in 2017
Why Jo Place chose Middleton
We love this area of the rugged South Coast surf beaches, and we kept waiting for an untouched shack to come onto the market at Middleton Point. We really wanted to be within walking distance to the beach and also to the cafes and main shopping area. Houses rarely come up for sale in this area, so when Zinc became available, we snapped it up immediately and set to work renovating it to its current standard. We wanted to keep the authentic shack feel, but add a few bits and pieces like an updated bathroom and R/C Air Conditioning.
What makes this House unique
It would have to be the location! To be able to see the sea from the back deck, and hear the crashing waves of the surf and know that it is only a couple of minutes walk away. We also love the huge rear deck we added to the large backyard, which means that although the shack is small, the outdoor living means that a family can stay comfortably.

This is our second stay at Jo's cottage and the enjoyment of a simple life style remains. Rabbits in the bottom garden, large mushrooms across the lawn added character. I bought and fitted a battery clock to the lounge room wall as we had no other way of telling time other than chase up our mobile phone. The house was very comfortable and because of constant rain, had to use the heater on several occasions. Over-all, a great winter stay.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, and your kind gift of a wall click. How thoughtful! We would love for you to stay again soon.
Very cute, cosy cottage. Very clean and comfy. Would definately stay there again. Also great location.
Glad you enjoyed your time at Zinc.
We love our quiet little spot too, tucked away but so close to the beach!
We would love for you to visit again.

Awesome home away from home.
We both loved this place. Great spot close to the beach, nice quiet street, nice neighbours! Our dog loved the big back yard. Nicely furnished with everything you need...the only thing we couldn't find was an ice cube tray! We'll definitely come back!
Glad you had fun, ice cube tray on the way!
Hope to see you again soon.

Really enjoy our stay at Zinc, peaceful, clean and close to the beach.
Clean & well maintained
Great location 5 min walk to the beach & only a short drive to Port Elliot . Beach shack set up beautifully for a small family
Perfect place to de-stress with the family!!
Stayed for a long weekend and loved the place. Fantastic location and the description doesn’t mention the fantastic deck overlooking the huge garden. Great spot to let the kids go wild in the garden whilst having a drink on the deck...! The house is a true shack that has been lovingly restored and is modern and clean.
We would love to stay again soon and if Jo and Peter ever think of selling we’d be interested!
Thank you so much for your lovely comments! We are glad you enjoyed Zinc as much as we do.
The deck and backyard certainly do allow space for everyone to spread out and relax.
We would love to welcome you and your family back again soon.

Zinc beach shack is located at beautiful Middleton Point, about 150m from Middleton Beach. It is in a scenic coastal area, with access to beautiful walking and bike trails. In the winter, you can walk to the end of the street and sometimes see whales in the bay. In addition to Middleton cafes, it is also a 5 minutes drive to the village of Port Elliot with cafes, pubs, antique shops, lifestyle and fashion shops and its famous bakery. Wineries are a 10-15 minute drive away, if you are keen to taste some local varieties.
