Hillcrest Apartment, fondly known as "Bobs Place" after the local butcher who originally owned the property, is Clunes latest luxury accommodation offering stunning views over landscaped gardens to the historic church spires of town and beyond.
A handsome late Victorian bluestone home with large sweeping verandahs and generous proportions, Hillcrest has undergone a historically sensitive refurbishment to bring it back to its former glory. Interior designed spaces with a focus on comfort and luxury melding Asian antiques with modern designer pieces in a Victorian setting create an alluring setting.
Two king bedrooms are uniquely decorated, with a focus on beautiful fabrics. Blue tones in bedroom one are complimented by Custom Brunschwig & Fils bedding, JP & Baker botanical fern print bed head fabric (the very fabric house approved by the royal family!), a velvet quilted comforter, sheepskin and pure wool throws. Orchids, turned oak tables, and leather ottoman together with a wall mounted T.V create a space you may never want to leave. Bedroom two, has its own appeal with rich red velvet tones, creating a sumptuous feeling. Custom made cushions, quilted velvet and linen coverlet and one-off designer pieces such as the sheepskin that drapes the cane chair, specially sourced from the Falkland Islands for that room set a wonderful scene.
The chic kitchen/living and dining area combine clever interior design concepts and inspiration to create an ultimately relaxing space. A slight oriental feel with open shelving in the lounge sits alongside the v groove panelling in the kitchen and bathroom that gives a slight country feel, stone bench tops ties it all together and contemporise these spaces. Stylish yet utilitarian, everything you need to create gourmet meals is there for your enjoyment. Indoor/outdoor areas make for easy living, and entertaining taking in the ambience the historic country town setting.
For those wishing to explore, this delightful village has some great offerings and attractions, most notably the Clunes Booktown event and Farmers Market. The food and wine offerings in and around the town are second to none, and for history buffs, Clunes has a proud gold mining history and still today boasts an original and charming streetscape, the scene of many movies and TV series.
