Renovated Timber Cottage in walking distance to the famous Jervis Bay
About Tracey James
Hi there my name is Kerri and I am the owner of The Shack in Myola. I have recently moved to the Gold Coast in QLD after living in Sydney for 20 years. This Cottage was my weekend getaway during my working career in Sydney and now I am a Property Buyers Agent and extensively travel around Australia buying real estate for people if they want an investment property. I still regularly come down to Myola to get my dose of paradise and mingle with the amazing neighbours in the street. My chocolate Labrador Roma, travels with me hence we understand the need to have a Pet Friendly house!
Tracey James purchased this Cottage in 2005
Why Tracey James chose Myola
This property tends to take people back in time and is relatively simple in its offering but with the mod cons we all like.
What makes this Cottage unique
Its a recently renovated Fishermans Cottage. The timber barn doors inside are the original floorboards and the bathroom that is off the front deck is also in its original position. The house is in walking distance to Jervis Bay and is an easy 2.15hr Drive from the Sydney CBD. The Village is surrounded by bushland and offers water on both sides with the ocean and currumbene creek, providing a sheltered location with a beach scape that has to be seen to fully appreciate its beauty.

Beautiful stay at "the shack"
It was such an enjoyable stay at the shack. The condition of the property and access to all the "homely" and convenient things (like condiments and bits and pieces like candles and throws etc) made the stay so enjoyable. We loved the fire pit out the back and the BBQ area. Such great hosts and look forward to visiting again.
Our stay at The Shack- Myola
Absolutely incredible stay. The property was phenomenal and had such character. So interesting to have been provided with the history of the place, and the amazing renovations that have taken place since it was bought. Such a close walk up to the beach which delivers such a beautiful sunrise. Not to mention the property’s backyard and back bbq Pavillon which creates an amazing setting for dinner and drinks. My partner and I were amazed by the peace and serenity that the area had. Not even a 10 minute drive to the local IGA/ bottle shop.
Would recommend to anyone.
Thanks again, we had a blast.
Relaxing getaway in a beautiful home
We loved our experience at the shack, it had everything we needed to enjoy our beach getaway
stellar long weekend/Australia Day
Loved our time at 'the shack.' Not only is the location amazing and the cottage absolutely adorable but the support from the owners was top notch/helpful. The entire property is at a very high standard and easily accommodated our 5 people but it was the many small touches that truly impressed. I highly recommend the shack if you want a peaceful and relaxing get away.
Perfect haven for relaxation!
We are a family of 2 adults, a young child and a small dog and often find it difficult to find properties which cater to all of our needs and accommodate dogs. This property ticks all boxes! It really is a home away from home, is renovated very tastefully and the owners have thoughtfully provided everything you could possibly need. The large enclosed garden is stunning and the pavilion with BBQ facilities is the perfect space to relax. Just a short walk from the beautiful beach and with more than adequate air conditioning, we were able to enjoy the summer holidays comfortably. We recommend this property highly and thank the owners for always being on hand with help and advice throughout our trip - we will be back!
Fabulous couple weekend stay
we had a lovely weekend staying at the shack as a couple with a little dog. Lots of space for the 2 of us and the vast back garden gave our dog hours upon hours of entertainment. The house was clean and well furnished with kitchen utensils, free wifi and decent smart TV, but we were only 10 minute walk to Myola Beach so spent most of our time on the golden sands & sitting by the log fire in the evening when the sun went down. Enjoying a wine and we appreciated the free bottle for our arrival, such a lovely gesture. Shops are a 15 min drive away in Calla bay and we recommend that you have a car to get around the area. Only slight criticism if any at all would be that the bathroom is small and ensuite to master bedroom which was fine for us but bigger groups might not like the layout & there are no holiday home instructions book but you can text the owner whom is quick to answer any questions on the house and emails you a lot of information before you arrive. I definitely recommend The Shack, it’s such a beautiful house you’ll find it hard to want to leave the place!
Appreciate the feedback on The Shack and glad you had a nice time at my place. Regarding the Bathroom, this is the original design on the heritage house so we have left this there and next year, hopefully we will start the Master Bedroom/Ensuite/Shed Conversion where we will have an ensuite in there for the main couple and the rest of the visitors can share the existing one.
Regarding the information book, we will condense some instructions for you onto a pdf so its all on one document for you.
Again, thanks for staying at The Shack and really glad you had a lovely time!
In Callala Bay which is 5min Drive from Myola, there is a decent size shopping centre with IGA for Shopping, Butcher, Baker, Chemist, Bottle Shop, Chicken Shop, Cafe and if you want to drive to Woolworths, Culburra Beach is an easy 15min Drive from Myola. There is an awesome Pub on the waterfront at Huskisson as well as cafes and cinema and travel by Ferry from Myola is a unique way to access this.
