The surroundings of the Old School are very rich in history. A long time ago the Celts lived here, later also the Romans. The gemstone industry around Idar-Oberstein goes up to the present time and is omnipresent. The newest attraction, is the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park, established in 2015, which is about five kilometers away. The Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park begins in the neighboring village. Hiking and cycling in almost intact nature, are popular leisure activities. The Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, which has already been voted the most beautiful long-distance hiking trail twice, as well as 111 associated dream loops make hiking an experience. The hiking trail "In the land of kite, stork and co.", a great nature experience trail, runs directly in front of the village. You can also start the cycle loop "Eisenmacher" here. The "Nahe-Radweg" as well as the "Rheinland-Pfalz Radroute" run in the immediate vicinity. The second longest suspension bridge in Germany, in Mörsdorf in the Hunsrück, but also the beautiful cities of Trier, Saarbrücken and Luxembourg are within a radius of no more than 80 km. At night it is very quiet! The house is located outside the village, public transport is about 300 m away. The next shopping possibility is about three kilometers away.
