Rich purchased this House in 2002
Why Rich chose Pine Knoll Shores
We LOVE our little escape by the beach! I always wanted a place in Pine Knoll Shores because it is very residential, private, and covered with wind swept Oaks that give this beach area a unique charm that cannot be found else where any of the Outer Banks. What a lucky find!
What makes this House unique
This is our retreat - a place to escape from the stress of city life and everyday work. My stress simply goes away as I sit on the crows nest deck over looking the ocean. It is a cozy quiet get away. Easy walk and access to the beach on our beach front road.

Classic beach cottage- wonderful stay
Rich’s place was wonderful for us. It had an abundance and variety of beds, and we found them all comfy with nice linens. The house has the feel of a classic beach cottage - dark paneling, wood furniture, kitchen supplies that have been amassed over years and enough for a crowd. It also had a smart layout, with bedrooms downstairs for easy load-in and out. It had everything we needed., and more! (Popsicle molds- yes!)
There was also a nice amount of outdoor space- a covered deck off the main great room and two levels of open deck nicely concealed from neighbors by the trees. Two strong outdoor showers. Tons of fresh, clean bath towels!
It was sparkling clean, beachy decor, plenty of games. Rich, the owner, couldn’t have been nicer, and got back to us immediately the one time we needed something. He was also thoughtful, even pre-making the beds before we came since he was at the house that day.
Two small suggestions to improve the house. 1) the trees in the sideyard are starting to block the ocean view from the upper deck and need to be trimmed. 2) its not a long walk, but the beach access is 7-8 houses away and a little narrow. Rent a cart if you don’t have one, but make sure it will fit down the path.
We really hope to come back soon! Thanks Rich for everything.
This was the perfect place for a quiet, relaxing vacation. I'd definitely stay here again.
Beach was a 5 minute walk for my 4 year old grandson. (Really close). No need to pack a lot because it's already there.
Wonderful sunsets, location and space
This was very nicely decorated, there was ample room and lovely decks. On a quiet street, but close to the Aquarium. All we needed was provided: beds, dishes, appliances, etc. The extra space was perfect for our grandkids, giving us all a great place to enjoy the ocean and activities. We loved our stay and plan to return in the future
Thank you Bobi! We look fwd to seeing you again!
We had an absolute blast! The house is cute and just the right size and location. Top it off with the most perfect beach weather we truly enjoyed our stay!
So glad you all had a great time!
This house was perfect! The location on the island is central to everything (aquarium, grocery, dining, shops, etc.). The house is on a quiet road and we rarely saw many vehicles passing by. Perfect for a family with small children. The walk to the beach is not far (about 1/4 of a mile). The beach area was perfect! It also provided everything we needed for playing on the beach (toys, kids chairs, body boards, noodles, etc.) The beach itself was not crowded at all.
The house had everything we needed for cooking meals and hanging out. We loved the bonus room over the garage. Tons of movies and just a really cool place to go unwind. We spent many an afternoon relaxing on the lower deck and the top deck is a perfect spot for late night star gazing.
It is an all around perfect spot! We were sad to see the relaxing week end and we hope to make it back very soon!
So happy you had a great time! Come again :-).
