The Laiterie lies in a large orchard with open views across the fields and the Touques valley. The bustling and attractive market town of Pont L'Evêque with all necessary services (supermarket, bakeries, butchers, pharmacies, banks, cafés and restaurants) is only 5 minutes away.
The house is located only 16 minutes from the beach, chic shops and racecourse of Deauville and 19 minutes from the historic fishing port of Honfleur with its many seafood restaurants and art galleries. Lisieux, with its famous Basilica is only 15 minutes away.
Day trips can easily be made to the Normandy Landing Beaches, Bayeux, Caen, Rouen and the Suisse Normande.
Sporting activities that can be undertaken nearby (within 10 minutes driving) include: walking and cycling, swimming, tennis, fishing, horse riding, forest adventures (aerial ropeways for children and adults), test drive 4x4, sports cars & quads on nearby circuits, golf.
Other activities include of course spending time at the beach (or at the nearby lake in Pont l’Eveque), visiting the Cerza zoological zoo (some 1000 animals are spread over a 60 hectare park – certainly worth a visit!), visiting Honfleur (a must!), the landing beaches, Bayeux, Rouen and Caen with their museums (notably the Musée des Beaux Arts in Le Havre, the musée du Débarquement in Caen) or the closer museums in Honfleur (the butterfly museum is always a success with the little ones as is the Erik Satie museum for all ages). There are many chateaux that can be visited in the area, whether you are looking to retrace the steps of William the Conqueror (his birth home is in Falaise where the remnants of his castle are well worth a visit) or try one of the thematic museums (dolls and miniature furniture in the chateau de Vendeuvre, hot air balloons in the Chateau de Balleroy, the paleospace in Villers-sur-mer for the little ones to discover fossils,…).
The Laiterie is an ideal location for walking the many ancient paths and bridleways criss-crossing the valleys, hills and woods of the Pays d'Auge. It is also an ideal place for golf: Saint Julien/Calonne has its own golf course, one of the two Golf Barriere (the other one being in Deauville, at about 15km away) which are considered amongst the most beautiful in France. Both the golf course in our own village and that in Deauville offer an 18 hole (total length of 6 035 meter, PAR 72) and a 9 hole (total length 2 275 meters, PAR 33). Each course features a range of technical challenges to help you improve your play. The golf course in Deauville offers fast greens and difficult roughs (on the 18 hole) and a wooded course featuring real competition holes (on the 9 hole). Both courses are set on beautiful grounds, the golf course in Deauville on the slopes of Mount Canisy, overlooking the plains of the Pays d'Auge and the golf course in St Julien spreading over 90 hectares of listed grounds.
