Great house, brilliant location.
We were a group of five adults and stayed in this cosy cottage in the centre of Ypres for five nights over the Armistice Centenary. We have visited Ypres a number of times before but have either stayed in hotels or out of town. This visit we decided that we’d prefer to be in the centre of town for the Armisitice commemorations.
We were welcomed at the agreed time by Karin who was friendly, helpful and obviously proud of her house. The accommodation was clean, cosy and comfortable with everything we needed to hand. The beds were very comfortable with warm duvets, the kitchen was clean and well appointed, the toilets and shower rooms clean and modern. In the upstairs living area there were two comfortable sofas, two armchairs and a dining table and chairs which served us as a table for board games. We ate in the spacious downstairs kitchen area at another large dining table. The dishwasher was a welcome addition too.
The accommodation is very well situated in the centre of Ypres a very short walk from the Menin Gate, the Cloth Hall and the many other museums and places of interest in the town. It was also handy for shops and restaurants. We’d recommend the bakery on the left at the end of the street, it does fantastic baquettes to take away for a midday meal whilst on the move. Ideal when out and about on foot or by car visiting the numerous graveyards and other WW1 places of interest.
Overall we were extremely happy with the accommodation and it’s location and if we decide to visit Ypres for a lengthy stay then I would not hesitate to contact Karin again.
