Fine villa. Great view. Spacious Lovely morning sun
The owners/managers were very easy to work with.
The location of the apartment offered an excellent balance between close to the downtown, and far from the hustle bustle of all of the tourists. It is close to many excellent restaurants. Grocery shopping is convenient.
If you can afford it, I would recommend personal drivers and taxis as a mode of transportation. We used the ferries to get from town to town with great ease. There is no place for parking, and it must be worse at high season (as we were here in late April).
The furniture in the main dining room was adequate. No more , no less. The metal seating on the terrace was very uncomfortable. There were woven chairs and lounge chairs that were more comfortable. These were not serviceable to sit around the tile top table which was lovely. The umbrella worked great.
The beds were hard but not outrageously uncomfortable. The pillows were very comfortable. The washing machine worked fine and on a warm day the clothing dried on the terrace in next to no time.
We used no air conditioning, heating only one of the two bedrooms at night, cooked only toast in the morning, and we were, after just one week of rental, almost at our electricity allotment. Anyone booking this villa during the summer or winter should plan to budget a lot of money for electricity.
Villa Gina located above the Viale Pasitea, the one way road crossing the little town of Positano, stylish shops restaurants, bars, are only 200 m. away and the beach 15 minutes walk. The quickest way down to the main centre of Positano is by catching the convenient Interno Positano bus which runs constantly within and around Positano.
From Villa Gina, those who like hiking and climbing will be able to easily reach the famous trail along the ridge of the mountains that overlook the Amalfi Coast. For its extraordinary beauty, made of precipices and breathtaking views, the trail is called “Sentiero degli Dei”: Path of the Gods.
From Positano tourist port you are also be able to board ferries and hydrofoils to Amalfi, Capri, Salerno or the Sorrento Coast and Naples, as well as go on mini-cruises. You must indeed take a tour of the coast from the sea.
If you are fond of archaeology, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Paestum are easily within reach, and, of course, Naples as well.
How to get there
There are several ways to get to Positano / Amalfi Coast from Naples Capodichino Airport or Naples / Salerno Train station either by renting a car or by public transport. It is also possible to arrange private transfer directly to the your property.
Request Private Car Transfer.
Once at the property you can get around fine without the car as parking in the towns is hard to come by and expensive. Public Buses operate year-around connecting Ravello to Amalfi, where are buses to all the Amalfi Coast villages and Sorrento area. Ferries (from May to October) operate a service between Amalfi - Positano - Sorrento - Capri Island - Naples and Salerno.
