Great views from location, beach a stone’s throw away - not suitable for anyone much over 5 foot tal
Extremely comfortable beds in two bedrooms linked in a T-shape pattern with no doors and one blind for the three windows - think about it! First bed accessed only gingerly past an obtruding roof-support V-beam and horizontal internal roof member. No hanging space for clothing or chest of drawers - recessed units in front bedroom, zilch in rear.
Narrow stairs lack handrail or support - child unfriendly.
Living room boasts a three-cushion, 1.5 person L-shaped sofa & separate backless pouffe. Impossible for even only two people to relax in any way due to the sofa’s configuration & proximity to the chimney breast/fireplace.
Dining table has four tired leather chairs, only one of which is easily accessed in the corner position the table occupies.
Top half of the access door’s inner panel collapsed and needed reinserting.
Television screen shows scorch marks in the top right-hand corner due to proximity to the high-level enclosed fire unit.
Galley kitchen is crowded for only two people - unlikely anyone could sit bar-style with comfort to eat/drink. Island cooker unit surface is congested and lacked useable space. Cooker hood low and collision hazard for anyone over five foot high. No fire extinguishers or fire blanket provided anywhere.
Sink inexplicably has a roller-shutter with a fully-open position at average chin level, no draining-boards and cramped in the extreme.
Glasses and crockery lacked anything like a full set of four - couldn’t find a pair of matching drinking glasses, cereal bowls or similar.
Bathroom accessed through full-height half-cupboard doors off the kitchen which have no inner handles to enable ready closing to preserve decency/modesty. Handbasin has a radius smaller than the average dinner plate and a shallow saucer-like profile, topped by a swivelling mirror 6cm deep that is 20 cm above the handbasin - try brushing your teeth as a contortionist - not funny! No extractor fan for the bathroom.
By the first evening we were planning to depart and in the two days the pair of us cracked our heads on low door mantles/low ceilings/beams a dozen times and collided with beams/angled ceilings at least a total of 30 times.
We left after two nights very surprised that this property is offered for holiday lets for 4. Guernsey Tourist Information will be advised of our concerns in due course.
Front stone’s throw area with patio table is beside the main coast road. Cyclists/vehicles/noisy motor bikes: racetrack - forget it!
A good week in September
A sweet little house, ideal for two. (The two bedrooms are 'open plan' so we're glad there were only two of us). Excellent bus service to take you into town (St. Peter Port), lovely walks along the beach and inland to pretty villages.
Good sunsets behind the lighthouse,
Very well equipped kitchen. Rather low headroom upstairs.
Spectacular sea views & sunsets!
The perfect place to read Victor Hugo's 'Travailleurs de la mer'!
Imagine the action across the bay & then wander around Pleinmont in search of the haunted house...……..
If you like a view look no further
We were welcomed by Tony to his delightful cottage. It looks like a traditional cottage from the outside but has been modernised inside so that it is a warm and comfortable. It is equipped to a high standard with everything you could need for a holiday and more. It would have been lovely to sit outside and enjoy the amazing sunsets but the weather was not warm enough during our stay. The cottage is right beside a road which would normally be a turn off but the road is not too busy in the day and is very quiet at night. I would happily stay there again if we visit Guernsey in the future.
The accommodation had everything you needed for a perfect holiday . Views at evening are stunning .
Tony was there to meet us and told us to treat the place as our own. He gave us a few pointers of where to shop, eat and suggested a few walks.
A perfect base to explore. We got a book on circular walks and managed 4. Lucky with the weather until Friday when we were treated to a force 8 gale.
Perfect spot for some magical sunsets.
