One bedroom, one bathroom, comfortable cottage in quiet village
About Ali Carlyon
We live at Brooking which adjoins Pearses Cottage,I am a physio now retired and William who is Cornish was a farmer and now helps out on other peoples farms. We have four children grown up and living away from home. Living next to the cottage means that we are on hand for advice suggestions and any help that is needed.
Ali Carlyon purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Ali Carlyon chose Totnes
Ashprington is a very pretty village in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The cottage was originally one of a row of three, now the only one remaining, it has been sympathetically renovated, keeping its charm whilst also providing very comfortable accommodation. Both the house and the cottage were lived in by members of Alison's family when the whole village belonged to the nearby Sharpham Estate. Pearse's is perfect for both a winter and summer, a woodburner/central heating keeping you cosy. There are many lovely walks straight out of your door, and three pubs within walking distance.
What makes this Cottage unique
If a quiet peaceful stay with a choice of walks, the attractions of Totnes, South Hams, nearby Dartington Hall, next door Sharpham or close by good pubs are what you are looking for then this is your perfect cottage. Or how about staying put with a drink by the woodburner!

Wonderful comfy delightful cottage pity the weather wasn’t better
Perfect country cottage experience
Pearses cottage is ideallic, and provides a great base for a couple to spend a few days relaxing (or in our case cycling/running) in the surrounding countryside. Having so many lovely pubs within walking distance, as well as the excellent cream team provided were also added bonuses. Cottage well equipped and the bedroom is so tranquil but with amazing light, highly recommend.
Thank you Rebekah for those kind words. I am glad that the both of you enjoyed your stay.
A delightful cottage with every possible requirement covered to ensure total relaxation and comfort. A peaceful village with very friendly local pub and good food. Within easy reach of beaches and lovely walks with our family dog.
Thankyou so much to our hosts William and Ally
Great little cottage
Had a really good time here, weather helped and so did having three pubs in walking distance. Would recommend to anyone for a weeks hols or short stay as we did.
A little spot of heaven in south Devon
The cottage met our needs perfectly, it was cosy very clean, fully equipped and dog friendly.
The village and the residents, as were the owners of the cottage, very welcoming , The village has a beautiful church, pub and a nearby vineyard . It is perfect village for exploring south Devon by car or for walkers.
Fantastic location nicely presented clean and well equipped
We found every thing we required and really enjoyed our stay
The only problem, particularly for my wife was the height the bath and as shower users it was not ideal, but on the whole a really good place to stay
Thanks for your nice review. We are sorry your wife found the bath awkward. We made the decision of providing a bath with shower attachment as we thought our guests would appreciate it more during a relaxing stay than a shower. Unfortunately there is not room for both which would the ideal solution.
We thought that we had made the bathroom arrangement clear on the description but we will check this to make sure potential guests aren’t disappointed.
Thank you for your feedback, and we are very glad this didn’t spoil your stay.
With best wishes, Ali and William.
There are 3 pubs within walking distance.
Sharpham vineyard, shop and cafe is also less than a mile away.
The town of Totnes is well worth a visit.
Riverford Farm Shop is good for organic produce.
There are many walks that can be started from here.
We are on a Sustrans route for cyclists.
