About Helen Verle
I was born in England but grew up in Holland where my Norwegian father was based with his work. My partner Gav is half Canadian and spent his childhood in both Canada and England. We've both moved around a bit but are now settled in Devon with our gorgeous 8 year old daughter Lotta.
Helen Verle purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Helen Verle chose Querrien
We had had a dream of buying our own holiday home in France having loved the country and spent a lot of self catering holidays in the south before we had our daughter. I was on maternity leave and we decided to have a holiday in Brittany which was much easier for us to visit with a 7 month old. Travelling by ferry is so relaxed compared with flying and it doesn't matter how much kids stuff you fill your car with! We stayed in several self-catering places but by far our favourite was Pont Neo. The house had such a lot of character and the mostly wild garden had a wonderful forgotten quality which we fell in love with. When we found out the house was for sale we decided we had to go for it. We have never regretted our decision and love the place just as much now as we did 8 years ago. We go as often as we can and it really is a second home for us. We've made some good friends and love the area.
What makes this Cottage unique
Living a in a city with a very small courtyard garden I love the space and feeling of peace in the garden at Pont Neo. Being surrounded by fields and woods and seeing and hearing the local wildlife, deer, foxes, mink, owls, woodpeckers, birds & bees, even a hare once is such a treat. We love visiting our favourite beaches, cooking and getting cosy in front of the open fire. Friends often come to stay with us for a few days and it's lovely to be able to enjoy some food and wine alfresco with the kids running around making dens and getting dirty!
