Great location but apartment needs a deep clean
Great location for our stay in London. Loved being so close to the station and 1 minute to Tesco, cafes and restaurants. Checkin was easy and Genie was accommodating. We were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the place considering there is a cleaning fee included. Genuinely not used. Carpets filthy and kitchen needed a serious clean. Dishes not properly washed. Simple things like the remote for the aircon was sticky and the apartment was very cluttered. Not a lot of space. Luckily the bathrooms and bed linen were clean but we always felt a little grubby staying here. For the money I would try somewhere else. If they did a proper clean, even with the cluttered feel then I would recommend because of location.
Just right for us
There were three of on a graduation trip for our grandson. The space was good for us. The neighborhood was wonderful, 2 1/2 blocks to the underground, nice pub, grocery, pharmacy, what we needed. Genie was very. accommodating. Our only negative was the restaurant below the front bedroom could be a little loud
Dated, dirty & power outage
Its been a terrible stay at the apartment. I booked the apartment based on glowing reviews, however what I experienced was very different. Upon arriving at the apartment, what struck me was the poor attention by the cleaners. Toilet shelves & drawers were stained. The same was for the kitchen area. A wipe down and a good mopping of the floor would have suffice. After purchasing groceries for the family’s breakfast, the horror of the condition of the refrigerator greeted me. It looked like it has not been cleaned for a year despite this being a rented unit which would see heavy usage.
The apartment had a nice layout especially the 2+1 rooms. Shame though the beds were one of the worse I’ve slept in. The mattresses were overdue for a change. Just sitting on it will have one sink so deep you can feel the rib of the frame beneath you. Even my 12 year old kid complained, let alone an elderly mom in law who suffered a week of bad back as a result of the condition of the mattress. The wifi’s non existent as far as half the apartment was concerned (master bedroom & part of the dining hall), and when one can get a good signal, the speed was unacceptable.
The final straw was when electricity was cut off on the second last day of my stay. I checked the circuit boards and none of the switches tripped. It was a problem of incoming supply which I never got a proper report on how can such an incident happen in modern day London. Only my unit was affected as the neighbors had their lights on. The final night was spent in bitter cold (Temp outside dipped to 3C) with no lights, heating & wifi. Just imagine the entire family sleeping & waking up to such conditions as an end to a holiday.
The one major advantage of this apartment is its location which is a short walk from the Underground but even that cannot help the fact that this is an apartment long overdue for an upgrade. Perhaps the owner should spend a night or two in it as how a chef should taste his/her own cooking before serving it to others.
There was an electric block out on phase 2 in the area where the electricity was off from 12:00 Midnight until the following day. I was in the Apartment until 4:30 AM trying to sort out with the Electric Engineers but not much beyond my control
I can only apologise to you if the apartment is not clean enough for you but something that can only be improved in our part from your comment.
I was glad that I was able to checked in your wife to my Apartment so early in the morning while you missed your flight and again I was also glad to have travelled 1 hour to come to open the door for you while your wife & her mother locked you out for their shopping.
Thank you for your stay in my Apartment. Your comment is very important to us so we can improve for a better service.
Super accommodating, allowed us to check in early in the day, close to shopping, underground. comfortable!
Genie is very accommodating and the flat is perfect for a family. Delightful neighbourhood with a Tesco grocery store just around the corner. Short walk to the tube. Would definitely return if the future holds another trip to London.
Spent a wonderful week at Genie’s apartment
We had such a great time at Genie’s, the shops, pubs, tube and buses were just around the corner. After sightseeing all day we would sit in the dining/living room area with our wine and relax for the night. We would definitely stay here again, thanks for your generous hospitality.
