About this property

Falls Brook Camp - Rustic & Private Nebraska Valley Home

Please review Manager's Information for cancellation policies prior to booking this home.
Hidden away in the surrounding woods and streams of Nebraska Valley, you will find Falls Brook Camp. A retreat from crowded streets and busy life, this property reveals the best that Vermont has to offer. The rustic but comfortable 4 bedroom country home boasts beautiful views of the enveloping hills and welcomes a variety of wildlife throughout the seasons. The main floor features a large primary bedroom with a queen-sized sleigh bed and propane woodstove that provides warmth and atmosphere for a restful sleep on a cold snowy night. The main living space also has a bathroom, newly renovated country kitchen, living room, and dining room with walk out access to a farmer's porch and sundeck. The second floor has three additional bedrooms, all with queen sized beds. These bedrooms share a full bath with jetted tub. Post and beams, along with paneled wood walls and ceilings provide a unique and inviting warmth and character to this home, illustrative of the Vermont lifestyle.

This home is surrounded by all that makes a vacation in Stowe so memorable. Wake to the sound of the babbling brook behind the house and enjoy your morning coffee on the farmer's porch or along the country stone wall running parallel to the brook. In the spring and summer, relax by the private pond in front of the house, listening to the chorus of frogs and birds that make it their home. Ducks, herons, and other wildlife frequent the pond. Hike the myriad of local trails. A local kayak launch provides easy access to the Waterbury Reservoir. In the winter, ski or snowshoe out the front door into Mount Mansfield State Forest, or make the 15 minute drive to some of the best downhill skiing in the Northeast. You will welcome the beauty of nature that surrounds this country home in the woods.

Good & Bad
The good: The location is superb - quiet, peaceful. The pond is beautiful and has a great firepit. The kitchen has all the working items and the table seats 8 or more comfortably, and has a beautiful view of the property. The wood stoves (gas fired) took the chill out of the living room and master bath nicely. The front porch is amazing - with nice chairs, and beautiful views of the mountains. The bad: *The check-in was tricky, requiring a pick up of keys at a realtor in traffic, then back to the house in the dark. **The toilets didn't flush properly. A very nice man came to look at them and told us he couldn't fix them. We texted and called the property people and got no response. Because we are good sports, we used pitchers of water to fill the tank and flush. But - inconvenient, for sure. They were still not working when we left. ***Not all the pillows had pillow cases. Since we had more beds than people, we just took some from the other beds, but it would have been a hassle if we had a full house.

Sibling birthday trip
The property was very private. Very relaxing with the sound of the brook running along side of the property. The pictures were deceiving as far as a step down into the kitchen. One of our family members missed that stepped and fell, so we moved two of the dining room chairs to remind the rest of the family that there was a step down. The refrigerator door seem to have a problem closing so we had to make sure whenever we went into the refrigerator to push it so it was tightly closed the light fixtures and the vents need a deep cleaning, there were some dead bugs in and the light fixtures and cobwebs and dirt in the air vents. The beds were comfortable. Everyone slept well. We did have a problem flushing toilets. Seems like we had to wait 15 minutes between each flush and that became a problem when we were ready to leave for the day and everyone needed to use the facility as there were six of us. Plenty of hot water and linens. All in all the home was very charming.

Summer getaway
The stream and pond are very nice but tv viewing is uncomfortable in both the tv rooms. The living room is very dark even on a sunny day.
