This upgraded 1 bedroom has a custom kitchen and great views of the ocean
A few Christmas's ago, Carol and I talked about what we would love to do in the coming year. We both said that we wanted to go to a place where we could find a beach where we could be alone and rest. A friend of a friend later told us about his vacation in Molokai and it sounded exactly what we were looking for. We came to Molokai in March of 2014 and immediately fell in love with this place and even more so with each other. So much so that we purchased five condos here at Kaluakoi Beach Resort. I have been a commercial real estate broker for 35 years and my job is incredibly stressful. Carol is a homemaker, decorator, and now property manager for our Kaluakoi (Kepuhi Beach Resort) Properties. We have 5 children and 14 grandchildren. All of our kids and grandkids live in our hometown of Las Cruces, New Mexico. I am a foodie and a wine lover. I was so blessed to find a great wine shop in town (Kaunakakai) and fresh farm produce ( Kumu Farms) available here year round. I also love venison and grass fed beef, both of which I can direct you to. I met a line fisherman named Jay at the wine shop and he sells me the freshest sushi quality fish I have ever had. I can give you his number if you are interested. Carol is the most hospitable woman I know and she is also a decorator. Our grandkids adore her as do I. We love to take walks on the beach, go snorkeling, drink wine watching the sunset and just reading a book or resting together. Molokai has really been a blessing to both of us. We would love to share it with you.

Why Carol chose Maunaloa
Carol and I wanted to be on the beach. Not across the street but on the beach where we could see the water and hear the waves crash. Kaluakoi is the closest condo project to the beautiful beaches on the west end of Molokai. The views are wonderful, the water is so blue and you can see whales right from our lanai. The sunsets from our lanai every evening are nothing short of magical. The community grill is well lit and functional and a great place to meet people from all over the world. The landscape is green and lush with so many swaying palm trees. We absolutely love it here and think you would too.
What makes this Condo unique
Molokai has the longest white sand beach in Hawaii, the highest sea cliffs in the world, a very small population, wonderful snorkeling and amazing weather. The views from our property are stunning and our toughest decision every day is to decide which beach we want to walk to or what do we have for dinner? The freshest fish or the best beef or venison we have ever tasted. Where else could we find this combination but the west end of Molokai.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Molokai is such a unique island, very simple and plenty of beautiful, quiet places to relax. We loved watching the turkeys graze on the lawn in front of the lanai. That was quite a surprise. Lots of beach to explore!
Relaxing & rejuvenating on a surprisingly different Hawaiian island
Our first visit to Moloka'i, and we immediately saw the difference from the other Hawaiian islands. Most of it is exceedingly dry. There is no commercialism, big resort presence, or pandering to tourists.
The Kapuhi Beach Resort is a landscaped oasis with towering coconut trees and flowering plants. The condos are right next to a former resort and abandoned golf course with empty buildings, but the resort grounds are very well kept. There is even a delightful little store on the premises with a little bit of everything, saving you a 38-mile round trip into Kaunakakai -- the main commerce center on Moloka'i. This unit is superbly and completely appointed with quality and taste -- an easy place to relax and a welcome retreat. It is close to the beaches, and you get beautiful views and sunsets to savor.
We ended up loving the beauty, quietness, quality, and relative isolation of this Hawaiian retreat.
Very comfortable and accessible!
Carol and Randy's vacation rental is our absolute favorite! Every detail was accounted for, and we were very comfortable. Mahalo!
A great condo on Molokai
The condo was just as described. It was clean and comfortable and just perfect for our stay. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to cook in. The bed was very comfortable and it was great to have the washer and dryer. We spent quite a bit of time on the lanai just taking in the view. I have no reservation recommending Carols condo to anyone wanting to spend time on Molokai.
So happy to have been able to visit Molokai after hearing so many good things about it. The condo was just right and had everything we needed. Had a great stay.
Monday morning after a breakfast of papaya and pineapple we head to the local meat market to buy Molokai grass fed beef where they process local cattle from the hoof to the vacume packed package. This meat is the best steaks and hamburger we have ever had. We head back to the condo and after a nice nap we go to the pool that overlooks the beach and the ocean. A nice swim and a good book is all you will need. We enjoy a magnificent sunset from the Lanai, great steak and veggies from the grill and then to bed. The sound of the waves make me sleep like no place else on earth. Fridays we always go to Molokai Coffee Plantation and Coffee shop where there will be 30 people playing ukelele (along with other instruments) while others dance a hula to the local music from 10 am to noon. What a joy to sit there with a great cup of java and take it all in. We may have lunch at Paddlers after stopping in the local shops. A quick stop at my friend Jay's for some more fresh fish and back home for a nap and, you got it, wine, sunset, dinner and off to sleep. Wednesday is another great day to go back to the beach for a day of shelling and snorkeling. Thursday morning we are back at the coffee house where they have local entertainment from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Usually a guitar player and a couple of ukelele payers having a great time. A quick drive up the hill to the overlook above Kalaupapa for a scenic walk and a picnic and back home for a nap. You know what is next - sunset, walk on the beach and dinner. Friday we might book a snorkel trip with Molokai Fish and Dive. Friday evenings we almost always go to Molokai shores where we sit right next to water and listen to the local ukelele's play. Saturday is a great day to take a drive to the east end of the island and see the rain forest and walk to the water falls. Probably stop back by Jay's for some more fresh fish and back home for another great sunset. On Molokai, Carol and I have found beauty, great food, friendly people, but most importantly rest. We hope you enjoy the same.
