About Dave and Heather Fish
Our family has been in Talkeetna since 1999. We have two beautiful little girls that just love rafting and fishing. We are the original owner of Sandfish Fly & Tackle. We currently operate our rafting, fishing, & lodging business off of our beautifull 5+ acre parcel just 3 miles from downtown Talkeetna. Our fishing and rafting business is now operated under Dave Fish Alaska. Google it to find the website for more info.
Dave and Heather Fish purchased this Cabin in 2008
Why Dave and Heather Fish chose Talkeetna
A Nice quiet place to stay. Yet just minutes from all of the activities that Talkeetna has to offer.
What makes this Cabin unique
Book an extended stay with us and receive great discounts on fishing and rafting adventures. Located on a heavily wooded lot with lots of wildlife. Moose frequent our property on almost a daily basis. We have a nice fire pit and chairs for relaxing in the evening after your busy day. Firewood is provided. The Fish Family will go out of there way to make your stay as great as possible.

Very Serviceable Accomodation
Trying to make it to Soldotna from Denali after finishing the all day bus tour (at 8:30pm) was not something worth doing, so picked Talkeetna as the stopover on the way there.
The cabin is a little outside of town off the spur road, but easy to find. We didn't arrive until 12:30 am, but Dave/Heather provided directions and keycode that made arriving late simple.
The property is a working area for the Fish's main business (fly fishing/river rafting) and the initial impression of the area is not that appealing visually (particularly when arriving with a family in the Alaskan midnight sun after being in a bus/car for 15 hours). There are a number of small cabins, warehouse, rafts, trailers and misc equipment around the area and the main cabin is attached to the shared bathrooms.
That said, the cabin itself has its own bathroom (very large) and is clean and comfortable. Kitchen is useable for meals, but only basic utensils available (e.g. no microwave, vegetable peeler, cheese grater, etc.). There is also not a lot of counter space in the kitchen area and the only table is small and under TV in living area (adjoined).
A small in investment in utensils and the addition of small table, shelves or rolling counter would really help the kitchen living area as there is very little space to set stuff. There are some unfinished areas in the kitchen, so I believe still a work in progress. That said, we were able to cook everything we wanted for all of our meals.
There is a small outside deck area (shown in photos with chairs), but really not somewhere you are going to sit and enjoy a cocktail. High grasses and forest area means mosquitos and deck looks on to the parking area and other cabins so doesn't feel very private.
There is a mosquito tented table just across the parking area next to the shared outdoor firepit that we used for dinner. While not necessarily that private, it was fantastic for our dinner to sit (safe from bugs) in the forest in the evening.
Beds are upstairs (I think 1 double and three twins) and they were all perfectly comfortable. Cabin has Wifi, Sat & DVR which your rarely get - we were able to record the World Cup quarters and watch while making dinner.
Talkeetna is just down the road and is a fun town (particularly vs Denali - which really isn't a town). Do highly recommend Talkeetna Air Taxi for the glacier landing.
Lovely Cabin in the woods
We enjoyed our brief stay at the cabin on our way from Seward to Denali. Talkeetna is a lovely little town and made for a perfect stopping point on our journey. The cabin worked well for my family and had everything we could need. Yay for Direct TV!! Thanks again
Favorite Cabin of the whole vacation!
This cabin is very nice for the price. The kitchen is stocked with plates, silverware, pots, pans, aluminum foil etc. The bedroom is the upstairs part and it large and well lit. There is a grill and fire pit that is shared use with guests in other cabins. This cabin is attached to the bathroom that all other guests use BUT there is a private bathroom inside this cabin. Bathroom is very big and nice. Only issue was that shower looses water pressure when outside bathroom toilet is flushed.
Nicely located near Talkeetna, AK
Clean, comfortable cabin. One plumbing problem was repaired in reasonable time after reporting it.
A place of beauty and peace
We loved staying in the cabin. It was so incredibly peaceful. Wished we had more time there.
Would highly recommend this property.

This cabin worked out great for our family. Close to town and we were able to cook some great meals.
Our family of 4 stayed in this cabin for 10 days and had a great experience. It was nice relaxing outside on the porch after spending most of our days exploring Talkeetna. Also enjoyed sitting around the campfire a few nights. I also suggest booking a guided fishing trip with the owners during your stay. Fun for the whole family!
Our property is located just 3.5 miles from the quaint village of Talkeetna. Talkeetna offers an array of tourist activities including flight seeing around Denali ( N. Americas tallest mountain), jet boat tours, fishing excursions, rafting, hiking, sled dog tours, museums and a multitude of bars and restaurants. We are located just 2 hours south of Denali National Park making an easy day trip excursion from our property.
