About Nicholas Maddocks
Aloha friends. Thanks for having a look and I think you'll really like the North Shore. I thought the beach where I grew up in San Clemente California was the best ever – that is until I came here. Now Monica and I make 2-3 trips per year. A typical day would be to walk to get coffee, walk by Shark’s Cove; check snorkeling; walk, jog, or ride up the bike path; chores – lot’s of home maintenance when you’re by the ocean; go to the beach – biggest decision – which beach; relax at home; have a cocktail on the lanai and watch the sunset. Mahalo.
Nicholas Maddocks purchased this House in 2005
Why Nicholas Maddocks chose Haleiwa
The reason we bought a home in Hawaii is largely attributed to my cousin who moved here when he became director of protected species for NOAA, and led conservation efforts for the Monk Seal and the Honu. All those years he was telling me about the magic of the North Shore. Then his son married a Hawaiian, and they hosted a week's worth of festivities on the North Shore from Waimea Bay to Sunset Beach. After experiencing the beaches, beauty, and Aloha Spirit firsthand, I was hooked. Soon this home came available and my cousin went there and became my eyes and ears as we talked on the phone. After an hour of detailed communications, I made an offer and bought the house virtually sight unseen! It turned out to be the best move I've ever made and family, friends, and guests have been enjoying it ever since.

Great stay on the North Shore
Such a cool house in a great location. If you want to get away from the tourism of Honolulu, stay at the North Shore and take in the treasures of Hawaii.
Wonderful visit to home near Sharks Cove
This property had a beautiful home tucked into the center of the North Shore. We had a group of 5 friends/coworkers staying for the week, the home was clean, spacious, and had all the amenities that you needed. The master bedroom was very large and had an open bath layout. I love that there was a coffee maker available in that room incase you are an early risier and don't want to wake the house when you go to make your first cup of coffee. The house was a short walk from Shark Cove, which would be great in the summer if you are hoping to do some snorkling. I really appreciated that all of the appliances and linens were updated and clean. I would highly recommend this spot for a great get away for family or with friends.
Mahalo, Nick, for making this trip amazing!
Great Vacation Spot
We had a great time staying at this home. The location is perfect, we walked to the beach and the grocery store. The home is well stocked with everything we needed. Having the use of the bikes and the beach gear was a bonus.
Location location location
Great location on the north shore. Super clean, well accommodated home. We had 5 people and were very comfortable.
Walk to food, supermarket and infamous north shore surf spots.
Dreams Come True
Pros: location, sooo close to beach, hometown feel, quiet, peaceful area. Very relaxing vibes. Gorgeous beaches, access to what felt like "private, uncrowded" beaches. Clarity of water words do no justice. Waves biggest you'll ever see! Owner communicative and friendly. Would come to North Shore again. House was well appointed, clean and comfy feel.
Cons: owner on site 2 of 3 nights (while unintentional), made it feel as if property was "shared" and not quite what is meant for anniversary trip. A little intrusive (stopping by to get condiments they left in main house, using laundry, "helping with tv" while we were GONE just made it feel less private and slighty awkward). While owner was very nice and "tried to inform us of their whereabouts", just not what I would want for vacation again. Their " "house" was literally feet away from several rooms, so could not totally relax in house for fear of them being so close by and hearing us on anniversary.
Hot house, even with fans, extremely hot in Nov. Be prepared for that because made us dread getting back to hot home at night. We are from Texas so we know heat, this was uncomfortable.
Great stay in Shark’s Cove
We loved the property! The location of the home was great. We could walk to several nearby beaches to snorkel in warm waters! The home was nicely furnished and had a great view from the upstairs outside area. The only thing we wished we had was air conditioning in the bedrooms.
