About this property

Five-star, Romantic Cozy Home Built Right Over the Waterfalls Very Pet Friendly

Tree Top is a lovely home, decorated fully, with taste and style. All modern conveniences are provided for you as a much appreciated guest: bath oils, soaps, linens, etc., as well as a very well-stocked kitchen. Decks surround the guest home on all four sides and the views are directly into the waterfalls from three of them. The structure's elevated, sitting up in the trees. There's a private bedroom, with a king bed, extra padding on the mattress and a heated mattress pad, as well. There are also two day beds in the L/R. There's a bar-b-que with charcoal provided, lounge chairs, everything you could ask for, and then some.

The rear deck is wonderful. Watch the setting sun, or drop a line into the stream, right from the deck, and pull up crayfish for dinner. Sunlight streams in through all the windows. The living room dining area has floor to ceiling windows, and can be opened to create soft, cooling cross breezes. You'll hear and see wildlife all around you. Wake up to the chirping of the birds, and maybe see a raccoon, or even a deer.

In cooler weather, the radiant floor heat will keep your tootsies warm. There's also plenty of handmade, scrumptious quilts to snuggle up under and extra pillows to satisfy your ideal sleeping conditions.

There's cable TV in the living room, and, if you'd like to read, plenty of books and magazines. Board games are plentiful for your pleasure, as well. There's a stereo, along with a large selection of CD's.

The kitchen is outfitted with everything you could need to make full-course meals, from multiple frying pans, assorted sizes of pots, pressure cooker, casserole dishes, muffin tins, etc. There are many, many drinking glasses, coffee mugs, two sets of silverware, etc., and lots of plates and bowls. There's also a blender, toaster, slow cooker, indoor grill, cooking utensils, electric tea kettle, and microwave. There's a deep double sink, and plenty of dishtowels, sponges, soaps, etc.

The bath is large, with a garden tub. All the ingredients for making your bath a delight are provided for you, from bubble bath, oils, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, and lots of towels, to toilet paper, and candles, too! The lighting can be modified in a number of ways.

I value all my guests, and make sure to do everything possible to ensure that you'll have the most memorable, incredible vacation, full of joy and delight. The residence sits on a very well-maintained state highway, so there's easy access, as well as ample parking.

There are lots of things to do in the area, as well. Visit artists' studios, walk the Appalachian Trail, white water raft, snow ski, hunt down some glorious antiques, see a play, dine at some very good restaurants, take a hayride at an apple orchard. Almost always, there's live music available as are many festivals. Thrill to a trip down some white water on a raft, tube on all the local waterways, or kayak up a creek. There's even several zip lines. In the winter, skiing, snow boarding, etc., are a short drive away.

Come and enjoy nature at its very best, while being treated like a very special guest with all the comforts of home! I'm always available to answer your questions, guide you to where and what you'd like. Just give me a call.

Thank you so very much for considering a stay. You will be happy you did!

***If you have a larger group of guests.....Falling Water accommodates 6 people. It's officially listed with VRBO, but, only recently, it has dropped out of sight with all mechanisms offered to view not functioning. A search, merely of Bakersville, will not reveal it. What you have to do, if you're interested, is to search under Bakersville, and use other filters....dates of stay, number of guests, etc, or, you may look on the Bakersville map provided and locate Tree Top, just a little north of Bakersville. You'll need to zoom in to see Tree Top. Then, zoom in more, and in and in until Tree Top is the only property shown on the map. Another little tear drop illuminator will reveal itself behind the one for Tree Top, and if you click on that one, Falling Water will appear, both on the map and on the left side of the screen.. I have spent the better part of two months attempting to persuade VRBO that there is a problem with the listing....so far, no success. Hope it is corrected soon and I appreciate any extra effort on your part as a treasured guest to do the detective work necessary to locate it! Thank you!!!!!!******

Amazing!
Beautiful & cozy little place. Loved the location and the sound of the creek during the days and nights. Slept like a baby with the windows open all night. Great communication with Yvonne who is amazing! We even had an anniversary present & card waiting for us when we arrived.

Amazing Experience
Our second visit to this unique property, so conducive to rest, relaxation and rejuvenation. Perfect place and time to re-appreciate the sounds of the waterfall and stream, the glorious colors of the fall leaves, and the warmth of the morning sun streaming into the cabin.

Bad experience
As we drove up it was dark and scary. Could not tell if it was the place or not. We drove down lane and place looked disheveled!! Boards broken on bottom of house. Deck did not look or feel sturdy. Not anything like description. As we went in walked through cobwebs. All through house spider webs. Place was dirty and greasy. Very humid, no AC, so everything damp including bedding, furniture, etc. Dishes dusty and again tons of cobwebs. Nothing moved to clean.

Had a great time relaxing and enjoying the sounds of the waterfall/creek that runs literally in front of cabin. Hostess was very friendly and very gracious. Will definitely repeat our stay there in the future.

Hi,
I'm a successful artist and have traveled extensively. After seeing the world, I determined that Western NC is the most beautiful and friendly area I had ever visited. So, I decided to make this area and land my permanent home. I was also a set decorator in the movie business in my younger days, rubbed elbows with the rich and famous, and now find the 'down home', gentle spirit in Bakersville to be a perfect place to experience relaxation, and to be soothed from the crazy, frenetic pace of the 'citified' lifestyle. It's a great place to visit, as well. The natural beauty of the countryside, its many vistas, streams, wild flowers and wildlife, beautiful Blue Ridge mountains and the spectacular basic gorgeousness is a treat beyond compare. If you're a history buff, this area has some of the most unusual tales!

Why they chose this property

I fell in love with this property the second I saw it. There was only a gravel driveway, with no structures at all and, as I pulled in, the waterfall directly in front of me just claimed my heart! Every day is sheer joy living here, absorbed in the spectacular beauty. This land was the family inheritance of the gal who lives across the road, and she instantly sold it when it came into her possession.. One day I asked her why she had sold the land, as we stood at the back door, looking at the waterfall. 'Well, ya can't grow crops or raise cattle on it. What good is it?' I looked at the waterfall and silently thought, "To each her own!"

What makes this property unique

My ex and I built this home with our own little blistered hands. I could change anything at anytime as the work progressed if there was an 'ah ha' moment when a better view became obvious..... if we moved a window a couple of feet over, or, if we did something else, this would add so much..the sky was the limit. As a result, this home and guest house are about as unique a place as you'll find anywhere. But, we also included all the comforts, with radiant floor heat, rheostats on the light switches, big garden tubs, etc. Most of all, lots and lots of the doors have full-light, with the outside natural beauty surrounds visible and the outside becomes a part of the indoor life continuously, as well. The place is replete with all sorts of quirky architectural details, as every square inch is treated with special artistic consideration! Nothing is cookie cutter. And, the place is located on a well-maintained state road, yet private enough for clothing to be optional if so desired. No four-wheel drive necessary.
