Ask a questionAbout Sarah Branton Isle of Gigha
We are a family of six. Mum, Dad and four children. We love to sail, kayak, swim and love anything involving the sea. We love Gigha (secret place to spend good family time) and have been coming for generations. Eating good food such as Gigha local fish and shellfish is a real privilege. We eat and drink well and use the freezer to stock all our favourites so once you are here there is no need to visit main land. The children spend their days on the secluded beach crabbing and fishing and always end up in the water. They love to explore the whole island and get lots of freedom to do so. We love to go for a run and finish with a swim at 'Jonny's Shore' (next to our cottage). The local people make this Island welcoming, especially to the children who are always at the beach catching crabs or at the swing park. The Branton's are away on a oversea adventure at the moment but still come back to Gigha regularly.

Why Sarah Branton Isle of Gigha chose The Hebrides
Gigha is a special Island. There is a feeling of peace and a definite affinity with nature. It's a destressing, grounding place to spend time. The Island has a tropical feeling due to the high sun levels and temperate climate as a result of the gulf stream. The wild flowers, the abundance of wildlife, the white sandy beaches and crystal clear water ensure that the mainland is quickly forgotten. The island is quiet and peaceful as it has still not been discovered. The Islanders are so welcoming and there is a strong feeling of Scottish ancestral pride.
What makes this Cottage unique
Our wee cottage is in the heart of Gigha. It is situated in the sheltered bay which means you can really enjoy the beach and all that it offers even on overcast days. This special place is only two minutes walk from the cottage. The house has great views of the comings and goings of the fishing boats and pleasure craft as they go about their daily lives.
