About this property

SCOTTISH ISLAND ISLE OF GIGHA

WHY NOT ISLAND HOP FROM ISLE OF ARRAN.........

Welcome to the community-owned Isle of Gigha, Scotlands best kept secret. The most southerly and one of the most beautiful of the Hebridean Islands. Seven miles long by a mile and a half wide, Gigha is situated three miles west of the Kintyre peninsula, less than three hours' drive from the City of Glasgow.

Gigha is breathtaking – silver beaches and beautiful bays, clear green seas, stunning views and amazing sunsets, lochs and gently sloping hillsides, as well as a plentiful variety of wildlife and birdlife. You can enjoy exploring the many archaeological and historic sites or welcome the peace and beauty of a walk, cycle, kayak safari, fishing and golf. Whatever the time of year you can immerse yourself in the colours of Achamore Gardens that benefit from Gigha being low lying and influenced by the North Atlantic Drift resulting in the climate being drier and warmer than that normally associated with the west coast of Scotland.

Beach View Cottage is a 'beachy' 'chic' cottage. This is a bright, open plan cottage beside secluded beaches, and also within walking distance from all local amenities. Enjoy watching the yachts sail by from the lounge . If you are lucky you may see local wildlife such as whales, seals and birds of prey. The secure garden is a sun trap, but beware a cow might pop over to say 'moo'. The cottage is next to the best beach on Gigha. You can leave the car as it is within walking distance to everything. Bikes are also good for exploring.

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to good food and drink on Gigha. From freshly caught seafood, island farmed halibut and oysters to whole milk ice cream from the Gigha cows.

Whether you want to pop in for a coffee, shop for provisions for your next sailing, or relax over an evening meal, Gigha has it!

Lovely Cottage in Gigha
Lovely cottage with everything you need already thought of. Very cozy and comfortable with plenty room. Beautiful beaches very close by and lovely friendly neighbours. In fact all of the people we spoke to were incredibly welcoming - including the ferry crew. Thanks very much, we hope to come back soon.

A fabulous stay at Beach View cottage.
Had a great time at Beach View Cottage. Sarah has been a pleasure to deal with and she met all our needs for a comfortable stay. House has a great layout and is very spacious. Check in at the nearby hotel was also smooth. If you are looking for a a relaxing, chilled out break, Gigha is the place to go and this house is within walking distance of most amenities on the island. Will definitely be back. Thanks Sarah

We are a family of six. Mum, Dad and four children. We love to sail, kayak, swim and love anything involving the sea. We love Gigha (secret place to spend good family time) and have been coming for generations. Eating good food such as Gigha local fish and shellfish is a real privilege. We eat and drink well and use the freezer to stock all our favourites so once you are here there is no need to visit main land. The children spend their days on the secluded beach crabbing and fishing and always end up in the water. They love to explore the whole island and get lots of freedom to do so. We love to go for a run and finish with a swim at 'Jonny's Shore' (next to our cottage). The local people make this Island welcoming, especially to the children who are always at the beach catching crabs or at the swing park. The Branton's are away on a oversea adventure at the moment but still come back to Gigha regularly.

Why they chose this property

Gigha is a special Island. There is a feeling of peace and a definite affinity with nature. It's a destressing, grounding place to spend time. The Island has a tropical feeling due to the high sun levels and temperate climate as a result of the gulf stream. The wild flowers, the abundance of wildlife, the white sandy beaches and crystal clear water ensure that the mainland is quickly forgotten. The island is quiet and peaceful as it has still not been discovered. The Islanders are so welcoming and there is a strong feeling of Scottish ancestral pride.

What makes this property unique

Our wee cottage is in the heart of Gigha. It is situated in the sheltered bay which means you can really enjoy the beach and all that it offers even on overcast days. This special place is only two minutes walk from the cottage. The house has great views of the comings and goings of the fishing boats and pleasure craft as they go about their daily lives.
