Converted stable on a country estate
I lived here for many years and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was only when a retired racing greyhound adopted me that I decided I needed my own field for him to run free in complete safety. I now live in Cornwall on an old farm dividing my time between my gorgeous hound, my poly tunnel and my hand pulled screen printing business - as well as ensuring Home Farm North meets the exacting standards of discerning travellers!
Gill purchased this House in 2004
Why Gill chose Combpyne Rousdon
The house is a Tardis from the outside; it looks quite small. But when you walk through the front door and into the living room, you'll see the triple height ceiling stretching up into the eaves and the glorious light coming through the windows all along the back wall. The house is open and airy and has such a feeling of space. The history of the house, once a stable/carriage block, is evident through its' architecture. The long and enclosed garden to the rear affords a great deal of privacy and peace.

Quiet, spacious place not far from Lyme Regis
We enjoyed our stay here, including walking the grounds, exploring the area by car, and finding fossils.
Quietly located on the Rousdon estate, this house is ideally situated on the Devon/Dorset border for exploring the Jurassic coast. The house is very well equipped and has a large kitchen and lounge area, perfect for family entertaining. The owner provides a wonderful welcome hamper and there's plenty of maps and guide books to use. The private beach is a bonus, though access is for the adventurous and fit. There's a private garden and there's also plenty of green open space on the estate. If you want peace and quiet, it's the place for you!
Really lovely accommodation and location, we had a brilliant week. Many thanks!
Pleased you enjoyed it. Come again!
Beautiful period property
We really enjoyed our three night stay and would loved to have stayed longer.
Tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard and kitchen very very well equipped!!
Thank you Gill for a memorable stay
Thank you for such a lovely review and sent so quickly! I'm pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you again,
What a glorious place!
So glad to have had the chance to visit. Everything was just as described (or better). The property was clean, bright, spacious, versatile, well equipped and lovely. It provided a fabulous base for a group of mixed ages and a very eager Labrador! There were loads of dog blankets, toys and treats; a good and easily-accessed back garden; and plenty of places for a romp right from the doorstep. We were blessed with unseasonably warm Feb sunshine, which made the whole estate even more enchanting, and we had great fun exploring the pretty surrounding area too.
Communication with Gill was excellent, and the welcome hamper the best we have ever had!
The only thing which would have improved our stay was more time there! It was a really special stay. Thank you!
So pleased that you and the Labrador all enjoyed your stay and that the weather came good for you.
Charming period holiday home
Charming and spacious period property perfect for our party of 10. Fantastic well equipped kitchen which we put to good use! Lovely to have Sky for the kids and comfy beds. Good pressure shower heads. The very generous welcome hamper was a wonderful surprise full of local produce. Great walk down to the private beach which is stunning. Dogs were well thought of with bowls, towels, blankets & treats! Thank you Gill, we made some fabulous NY memories in your beautiful home.
The Rousdon Estate is situated above the Undercliff along the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Over 250 acres of parkland and grazing around the majestic mansion house, once the home of the Peek family (tea and biscuits). Former farm and estate workers cottages abound, and Home Farm was the original farm for the estate featuring a stable and carriage block, a forge, a woodworking shop, animal housing and a farmhouse, now all converted. Visit Lyme Regis for the famous Cobb (French Lieutentant's Woman), Honiton for antique shops, Sidmouth for a lovely Regency town, Seaton for its' tramway, Axmouth for its' marina and the beautiful villages of Beer and Branscombe.
