About Helen Wilson
We bought our home here in January 2016 after our two adult sons settled in London. Since then we have been enjoying spending time here, the better weather and exploring all the wonderful things this region has to offer. Our home is attached to one side of the barn so if needed we can be available to give local information or help in any way we can to make your holiday enjoyable and memorable. We had a wonderful week here! The home is beautifully remodeled and very thoughtfully equipped. The outdoors is also lovely. Everything was even nicer than we expected based on the pictures.
Such an amazing place
Would just like to thank Helen and Neil, for allowing us into there beautiful home so relaxing quiet and wonderful hosts, both my husband son and daughter in law to be had an extremely wonderful time you couldn’t ask for anything more. The property has everything anyone should ever need thank you so much regards Elaine Stephen Stewart Cayla xxxx
Absolutely top quality
The house is just idyllic; huge, spacious, well equipped, the beds are comfy, aircon in most of the bedrooms, a good stereo, televisions, and a well equipped kitchen. Outside there are many places to sit and chill, eat, talk, and a lovely garden with a glorious hammock. The pool is lovely too, and there is a great treehouse for the kids.
Duras is 10 minutes drive away, very nice Bastide town, not too touristy, but very friendly
Helen and Neil are both lovely too. 10/10. We will be back.
We have just come back from our family holiday, at Helen and Neil’s totally impressive! Home from home, luxurious stone barn conversion.
We were a mix of four families, youngest 12 oldest 76, with a mix of ages between the 10 of us, there was something for everyone.
The pool was a godsend! As the weather was lovey and hot, there was a lovely shaded area were my Dad sent most of his time reading and chilling with the odd glass of wine!
The kids, when they were not in the pool, spent there time upstairs! Where there was a lovely area with sofa’s,chairs and abundance of dvds, games and books.
I have stayed at many villas and apartments! This beats them all! I don’t think there was anything they hadn’t thought of.
We went to Bergerac which had plenty of shops and food places.
We went to a lovey market on Sunday morning in issigeac .
Went to Duras nice little town, chateau is worth a visit.
All in all, we had a great holiday! And that was mainly due to the fact of where we stayed.
I would highly recommend Les Cherisiers, and the owners Helen and Neil’s communication was excellent! Replied to any queries we had almost instantly.
A big thank you.
Imaginatively converted spacious barn in a peaceful part of the Dordogne
We really enjoyed our holiday at Les Cerisiers (The Cherry Trees).
The property is spacious, tastefully furnished and has everything one needs to make it a home from home. It occupies a large plot and is very peaceful. The owners Neil and Helen live next door which is really helpful as they are able to provide top tips about places of interest nearby.
The weather was superb - it was ideal to have a pool to cool off in. Kayaking on the Dordogne is a must as is a visit to one of the many local markets. The evening market in Duras was a particular highlight with a superb selection of food and local produce. If you want a meal for a special occasion visit the Hostellerie Les Ducs in Duras - fantastic food, immaculately presented with a very relaxed ambience.
There were 5 adults in our party, we all enjoyed it and had a very relaxed holiday.
The house was near to a lovely little town, as well as being close to Bordeaux and Bergerac with lots of lovely villages around. Sadly we just missed the fields of Sunflowers at their best.
The house was so carefully thought through, lots of space for us to get lost in - we particularly liked the 'snug' area to chill and watch DVDs. Lots if seating areas inside and out. The swimming pool was very clean and warm, surrounded by lawns with chairs under the trees to sit and have your early cup of coffee. Lots of games and an area to play Boules.
The owners were very welcoming and helping and provided a lovely food and drinks assortment upon our arrival.
We would definitely go back.
Located close to the impressive bastide towns of Duras, Monsegur, Eymet and many pretty villages Les Cerisiers is within easy reach of all facilities and attractions. There are weekly markets in the surrounding towns and villages and lively night markets themed around food and drink throughout July and August. Levignac de guyenne (2 km) has a baker, well equipped general store, pharmacy and post office. There are planned routes for cycling, walking, wine tours close by. Other activities nearby include golf courses (for all standards and abilities), kayaking and canoeing on the river Dropt or Dordogne, boat trips from Bergerac (river Dordogne) or Nerac (river Baise) horse riding and, of course, wine tasting. Days out could include the world famous and incredibly beautiful St Emilion 49 km, Bordeaux 100 km (train from Marmande 19 km) with the impressive Cite du Vin and everything that a city has to offer, the pretty old town of Bergerac set on the river Dordogne 45 km, with it's Masion du vin museum, Nerac, a beautiful historic town 75 km with boat trips on the river Baise as well as the many beautiful historic hilltop villages of the Dordogne many within an hour or two away.
