Why Owner chose Milatos
We have always loved the Greek islands and decided to settle in Crete in 2008. We had previously visited Milatos during a holiday and fell in love with it. It is a traditional Greek village, and our house location is idyllic. The villa offers modern, comfortable facilities to enjoy a great vacation, with the added advantage of your own private swimming pool. The views overlooking the sea and mountains are stunning.
What makes this Villa unique
Within easy reach of Heraklion airport, local towns and villages. Modern, well equipped villa with its own swimming pool. Near beach, tavernas and bars. Views over the sea and local countryside. Short walk from Milatos cave. Ample private parking.
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if cancelled at least 30 days before arrival date.
Beautifully appointed villa in quiet location
Vila Elia surpassed our expectations for a relaxing holiday. It is beautifully appointed and in a super and quiet position outside Milatos villlage (0.75 mile) and Milatos beach (1.75 miles). The villa is very spacious for a couple or up to a family of six (there are three bedrooms), all centred around the large kitchen and living room with balconies off.
The pool is not overlooked and a good size with great views across the valley to the sea. The sun is on the pool and terrace throughout the day, but there is plenty of shade provided as well.
David and Lindi met us on arrival at the villa, and were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, though never obtrusive.
A car is essential for this property to access the local area and further afield. We would recommend day / half day trips to Spinalonga, Knossos and Heraklion. There are many beaches accessible on the north coast, but also the south coast is only an hour away with (almost) guaranteed sunshine. Mirthos (8 miles west of Ierapetra past all the greenhouses) has a beautiful quiet beach with some good tavernas. Locally, we would definitely recommend the Kohili taverna in Milatos beach (Eleni, the proprietor's wife is friendly and welcoming and the food is very tasty).
Entirely to be recommended!

Thank you for a very honest and thorough review. We hope that other prospective visitors benefit from the information that you have provided. Best wishes, David and Lindi
Simply stunning and a prefect home from home retreat. Ideal location, wonderful views day and night
A little piece of paradise. You could just sit and relax with a good book, watch the ocean, swim in the super pool or chat with friends and family on the terraces. It's location is great with easy access to the other resorts. Local tavernas are great. Swimming in the sea is good too. Hosts are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Villa well equipped and of a high standard. Lots of local information provided. Great holiday x
We're glad you enjoyed your stay at Villa Elia and that we provided the basis for the holiday you were looking for and the standard of comfort you expected.
Amazing as Always
This is our second time at the villa and it was just as good as the first time if not better!!The pool is always so clean and blue. The view is breath taking and the whole place is so relaxing and comfortable. The photos do not do it justice as it is a lot bigger than the photos show. Our children love it here and we do as well. Everything is always clean and tidy and the owners are very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back.
Enjoyed a perfect week of complete r&r in the sunshine at this beautiful villa.
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at this beautiful villa in glorious sunshine. David and Lindi offered us a very warm welcome and we soon settled in to their beautiful villa. Set up in the hills off a small road, the villa is perfectly positioned to offer amazing views over milatos & the coastline. The pool is a great size and deep enough to dive in to. It’s the perfect place to cool off when it gets too warm. There are various spots to sit outside around the villa, so you can choose according to the time of day. The inside of the villa is really well equipped, very comfortable & exceptionally clean. It’s location is very peaceful and there is not much to hear other than the local wildlife and the waves from the sea.
Because of the villa’s situation we stopped at a supermarket on the way from the airport. I would recommend doing this, as there are limited shops nearby and really only suitable for essentials.
There are a selection of tavernas in Milatos itself, and although others have said that its possible to walk, I would say that it’s further than most would feel comfortable with. We were very glad of our hire car, particularly as it was so hot, but it’s literally not much more than a 5 minute drive down to the tavernas on the coast. Here you will find a selection of traditional tavernas, nearly all family-run and offering both delicious local food and a very warm welcome.
If it’s a beach you are after, then Milatos itself may not be for you. There is a very small area near one of the tavernas where you can hire sun beds, but largely access to the water is over a small area of pebbles or directly off the rocks themselves. Lots of locals enjoy the clear waters from here, but not so great when the wind picks up and the waves make access much tricker. There are some beaches nearby, but we didn’t visit as were content to enjoy the peace and quiet (& pool!) at the villa, so didn’t miss the beach at all!
David and Lindi are a lovely couple and very helpful with everything (including finding us some tonic water for the gin!). They genuinely cannot do enough for you.
We would throughly recommend this villa if you are looking for a very comfortable, well equipped villa in a stunning location.
Thanks again David & Lindi for allowing us to enjoy your home and get some much needed r&r!
With Warnes wishes,
Katie & Merryn
Beautiful villa, stunning views
Villa Elia surpassed all our expectations - it's beautifully appointed and very spacious, and the views from the balconies and from the pool area are amazing at any time of the day.
The villa is about 20 mins walk from Milatos (which has two tavernas) and a little further from Milatos Beach which has many more.
A car is essential, as the facilities, beaches etc are some way away - but this opens up the wonderful Cretan scenery for you to discover.
We loved our stay here, and I'd like to thank David and Lindi for thinking of everything possible to make our stay memorable
Hi spec Villa in a beautiful setting.
Villa Elia is situated halfway up a small mountain and overlooks the sea and olive groves. David and Lindi could not have been more friendly and accommodating - we even took them out to dinner to thank them for their hospitality!
Villa Elia is very well presented and kitted out with all cleaning/kitchen products etc. Even comes with a cat called Pip! Great swimming pool complete with shower. The local roads once you leave the main E75 are quite wiggly, but you get used to them and it always seems worth it once you arrive back at beautiful Villa Elia.
There are 5 or 6 nice tavernas in Milatos beach, but the beach itself is pebbly so you will end up in Sissi or Malia (Potamos Beach is good).
What to do:
Milatos Cave, then keep going up the mountain to the taverna in Kounali - it's wonderful.
Agios Nicolaos is a good place to eat/swim/wander about
We did a boat trip/BBQ to Spinalonga Island from Elounda
Lassithi Plateau + Zeus Cave!
