Fabulous week in a lovely cottage
We have stayed in many rented cottages over the years and this was the best yet. The cottage was equipped with everything you could need and more!
Both front and back gardens are proper sun traps which fortunately we were able to make the most of during our holiday.
Jackie was exceptionally helpful and obviously cared that we had an enjoyable holiday, which we most certainly did.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage for anyone looking to stay in this lovely and peaceful part of France.
I am really glad you enjoyed your week, thank you for the lovely review and I look forward to welcoming you back if you are in the region again.
We stayed at this cottage over the New Year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage was very warm and cosy, well equipped and comfortable. There was a good selection of items in the cupboard to save us getting everything we needed, i.e. salt, pepper, toilet rolls, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and so on...... we only needed to buy the main ingredients for our meals, this was a first for us in all the cottages we have stayed in over many years. Thank you Jackie you have been so helpful and generous.
The village is pretty, there is a small supermarket (although this was closed all the time we were there) a couple of bars and easy access to the Loire. 4 miles away is an Auchan supermarket at La Charite which again is a lovely town on the banks of the Loire. Sancerre is a must town to visit. This cottage is an ideal base to explore this lovely area.
Thank you I am really pleased that you had a lovely New Year and enjoyed the cottage.
Lovely home in Loire River Valley
What a wonderful home.....everything has been provided for you. Jackie has done a great job decorating and has thoughtfully created a warm, cozy living space. The outdoor garden areas are so inviting for a glass of wine or a meal. The home is centrally located in a small village near many charming areas for exploring and wine tasting. Jackie is available to answer any questions via phone or Internet.
I am really glad you enjoyed your stay Bill and Ginny, it is a lovely relatively unknown area for the British
Comfortable cottage in an ideal location
The cottage was immaculate when we arrived and the welcome pack including an excellent bottle of wine was much appreciated as was the supply of many basic items such as tea, coffee, sugar, salt, dishwasher tablets etc. The property has been well restored retaining character whilst providing modern touches in the shower rooms and kitchen. Lovely large master bedroom with a very comfortable bed and nice linen. We were very lucky with the weather and experienced temperatures in the high 20's but the cottage was always cool which was a welcome relief at times. Being able to sit outside at both the front and back was perfect as there was always a choice of sunny or shady areas. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is in our opinion we would have liked a couple of comfortable reclining chairs outside to relax later in the afternoon after being out & about and either a DVD player or satelIite TV with english channels would have been welcome as it did turn a bit too cool in the evenings to sit outside. This said I would have no hesitation in recommending this property and would be happy to return if we visit the area again.
Immaculate in every way
Very clean and good situation within typical French village. Easy walking distance of shop and two bars and a very good family restaurant. Great wine tasting area and attractive towns nearby.
A real gem!
My wife and I booked the cottage hoping that it would provide a perfect bolt-hole for the two of us to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary together in idyllic surroundings in rural France. We were absolutely delighted with our choice! The house was tucked away in a quiet Loire-side village, nestled between Burgundy to the east and Berry to the west, with an abundance of delightful towns and villages within easy reach, open countryside all around, beautiful vineyards in abundance, restaurants and cafes of every possible kind within both walking and easy driving distance, and many, many activities to follow/undertake - cycling (bicycles provided), canoeing, boat trips, walking, and on and on... Not only was the gite itself as clean as a new pin, comfortable, and internally modernised to a high standard, but the owner also provided several pages of advice about things to do and places to visit in the area, which we followed happily (and very successfully) without anywhere near exhausting the list in our 2 week stay.
We had a truly memorable holiday, and we cannot recommend it highly enough. If you want a taste of authentic France, and the opportunity to explore the Upper Loire from a genuinely comfortable base, you would find this cottage in Mesves sur Loire very hard to beat indeed. We shall certainly be recommending it to the wide circle of our friends and family...
50 years is a real milestone which you should both be proud of. I am really pleased the cottage worked so well for you to celebrate your wedding anniversary.
