Great property, great host!
Everything we needed in a vacation rental
First off, the size of everything is impressive-the land is big, the house is big, the deck is big, and the frontage is substantial.
Everything is well kept and the owner responds to texts immediately with any concerns. The rooms are comfortable, the mattresses and bedding are all excellent quality, and the layout and design is very unique as a vacation rental-the kids love the lofts, and the teenagers can stay up and close off the family room so the rest of us can sleep.
Everything is like a regular home-city water, central air, modern kitchen, so that was all nice. The AC works well. The front porch is a nice escape from all the ruckus in the backyard.
The water is high this year and the shoreline is mucky but the dock goes out far enough to where the bottom is hard so that was not a problem for us. There is plenty of dockage, deepwater to dive and swim, a fish cleaning station with a stainless table, hose, and light, plenty of TV channels, plenty of parking for guests, and boat trailers, and lots of privacy.
We will be back for sure.
A welcome break from classes
Our group came down to the island from Kettering University to get a bit of a break after our midterms. The property was exactly what we needed! Unfortunately, it was pretty wet all weekend, so we didn't get to enjoy many of the outdoor amenities, but the house as a whole was great, and wandering the island once it stopped raining was a lot of fun. The 18 guys that we had out was probably slightly too many for the property, especially being stuck inside for so much of the weekend, but if we have less folks interested when go out on retreat again next fall, this property will definitely be on our list.
My family and extended family had a great time at this house. We can't wait to come back and create many years of memories staying here whenever we come to visit the area.
Great getaway location!
Talk about privacy, relaxing & eating on a large comfortable deck, boating, this place has it all!!! Love the view from the great room and the deck, and watching the parade of boats going by. We had 2 boats (21 ft and 20 ft)tied up to the dock and had room to spare. The owner is great to work with and was very helpful when a storm took the power out for 9 hours the first night we were there. We highly recommend this rental and hope to come back next year!
Everything was exactly as stated. What a beautiful home. It's as if you don't have any neighbors. With all the shade trees you feel and really are completely secluded. Lake St. Clair is known for it's smallmouth bass and wow are they fun to catch. You could spend the summer at this place and never run out things to do. Owner was great and very easy to work with. The pier is over 100 yards long and it takes you out past the sandy beach to deeper water which was a plus for those bringing up boats. There is a line of reeds 30 yards past the pier and it really knocks down all the waves coming in from the bigger boats going down the channel and really helps protect the boats from banging the pier. There's just nothing negative about this home. Big, well decorated, nice comfortable beds and everything you need for a great time.
The dock is capable of mooring several boats, the largest we had was a 50 foot Sea Ray. The swimming and diving are excellent, the water is blue and clear.
Sunning, swimming, relaxing, fishing, boating, shopping, relaxing.
Golf and tennis. Miniature golf, bowling, horseback riding, more
golf, and more shopping nearby.
In hunting season, duck, goose, and deer.
Harsen's Island has no motels or hotels, and very few vacation
rentals, so do not expect a strip of tourist attractions, as the
population is about one third residents, and two thirds seasonal
residents. Do expect a friendly small town attitude, and a safe,
clean, and friendly environment to spend some time with your friends
and family-its plenty close enough to entertain day visitors, and
place is large enough to accommodate plenty of overnight guests.
There are three markets and a couple of bar/restaurants on the

Join the family for a quick breakfast on the patio, or in the air
conditioned comfort of the summer residence. Take a ride to one of
the markets for a morning paper.
Later, dive into the clear blue waters at the end of the dock for a
refreshing swim. Marvel at the water quality, the sandy bottom,
consider some snorkeling with the kids. Bring a boat? Take a ride
and get lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants. Do some tubing
one of the sheltered bays in the Flats.
Grab the fishing poles-pike and panfish off the dock, then use the
fishing boat to take a trip out to the Channel and bounce the bottom
Take a bike ride with the kids to the park, play some tennis, let
on the swingsets for a bit, maybe take a ride into town, enjoy some
