Big pine key
Great time we love the key deer
everything was fine
I would go back
Perfect size, had everything we needed, great landlord
Captain Ron was extremely kind ans accommodating! We loved the house and everything that came with it. Ron provided us with kayaks that we took out right from the house, and many bikes to ride around the neighborhood. The house was clean and full of everything we needed to make the week feel like home. Thank you for making our trip so easy! We highly recommend this location. The small deer on the island were a huge bonus. They came right up to us and were so friendly!
We had a wonderful time! The location was very relaxing. Captain Ron was a great host!
Once again my efforts resulted in a satisfied guest. This is important to me.
My basic operation is, while you are my guest this is your home and I am just a phone call away should you need anything.
This enables my guests to tour the Keys, fish or in this case just relax and enjoy their down time.
Nice little spot in Big Pine
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cap'n Ron's Hideaway. Very nice and secluded and quiet. Cap'n Ron and his wife were excellent managers and we enjoyed talking with them. If we needed anything they were within yelling distance(although we never needed anything). Cap'n Ron, I certainly enjoyed our conversations. The wife and I will certainly return again.
A good review of my home is always welcome and an indicator that my efforts are successful.
I am pleased that you wish to return and I enjoyed our "war stories" as much as you.
Thank you for your review,
Great escape from the Great White North
My wife and I spent a wonderful month at Captain Ron's Hideaway. It is all it is advertised as. Clean, up to date, with a well stocked kitchen. Set in a quiet neighbourhood, it is within walking distance of the No Name Pub. Kayaking out to the channel can be accessed from the canal in the back, or access to a shallow bay on the other side of the key can be accessed just down the street. Key deer are everywhere! The key is great to exsplore by bike, as there are many dedicated bike lanes. Take your GPS and hike the unmarked trails of No Name Key. There is an old quarry where you can pick up some fossilized coral as souvenirs. A nice touch supplied by Captain Ron is the day pass to the state parks (their are a few on the mid to lower keys). Particularly enjoyed the self guided hike at Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park. In Marathon, Sombrero beach at the end of Sombrero Beach Road is a much less crowded spot to enjoy the afternoon enjoying the sun and sand. Thanks Ron! It was nice to escape the snow this year.
These travelers from "the Great White North", discovered just about everything there is to see or do in Big Pine Key.
If exploring is not your thing, one of my guests prefer to simply bask in the sun on the south facing screened porch and recover from the cold of the north.
I appreciate the reviews from guests that confirm that the "hideaway" is as advertized.
This section of Big Pine Key is quiet and made for relaxing. I get comments on how quiet it can be.
In addition to "standard" vacations, This home has hosted wedding parties and in 2012 my sixth honeymoon couples. ROMANTIC
If you like fishing, boating, water sports, etc. you are in the right place. Bait, tackle, gas, etc. are available at the Old Wooden Bridge Marina, accessable by boat or street.
If you like great restaurants and night life, Key West is just minutes away. Check out the activities listed at the house.
The world famous "No Name Pub" is just a few streets away. Bring a few extra one dollar bills to decorate the walls and ceiling there. The current estimate of hanging dollar bills is 40 to 50 thousand. Take your guess while waiting for the best Pizza in the keys.
On the next Key is a waterfront restaurant called "Kikis". This second floor eatery overlooks pine chanel and Big Pine Key. A table by the east facing large windows is a must during the rise of the full moon.
