Very Nice Place
Our family really enjoyed our stay. The 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms was perfect for all of us. It was very peaceful and quiet, exactly what we were wanting. Will definitely want to stay again.
Come prepared for rough roads
Our visit was overshadowed by the trip to get to the house itself. When you're within a mile or so, you leave state/town-maintained roads and enter some dirt/gravel roads that are posted as being HOA/homeowner-maintained. They are terrible. The listing noted that you might need to shift your vehicle into a lower gear.... this was really not sufficient description of the quality of roads. My car axle actually snapped off trying to get up to the house, another person in our party had to sit and wait while his transmission cooled off, and the third (in an SUV), was just fine. Thankfully a local plumber came by and towed me up to the rental house and I was able to get my car towed out to a repair facility the next day. Thanks to the holiday weekend, I spend >$500 on the towing and repair, and it overshadowed our entire stay here.
The roads, while not marked as such, appear to be one-way, which the plumber informed us of. As such, you needed to turn right out of the driveway coming out, which was really all but impossible as it turned the other way at the bottom. We nearly got stuck every time we tried to do this. You could alternatively have backed down the ridiculously steep driveway and out the way you came in, then pull forward and drive out, but no one felt comfortable enough with that to attempt.
Other than that, the listing notes that you get "awesome mountain views" from all three floors. Maybe our friends who stayed in the top level could see the mountain, but pretty much all you can see from the bottom or middle level is trees. A lot of trees. It's very pretty, but we certainly were not getting any amazing mountain views from this spot.
I was also pretty shocked at the trash pickup option. They supposedly have cleaners coming in (for which you pay a significant amount as a renter), and yet they asked us to take our trash 20 miles away to a grocery store on departure. Seriously? The cleaners cannot take the trash with them? This was nuts to me.
Overall the owners seemed quite nice and the rental itself was otherwise good. There were some cleanliness issues as another renter noted - some insects around the whole house and various cobwebs in most corners. That said, the rental was pretty nice but the roads I felt like needed much greater warning/description than they were given. Really ruined my trip and week trying to get it repaired and back to Durham.
The three bedrooms and 3 baths were great.
The unit was locked when I was told it was open; so we had to wait for about 15 minutes for someone to come and unlock. The hot tub didn't work, but we were informed before we booked. The cleanliness was lacking with many spider webs and floors that simply were not swept well. We over stayed our early check out time of 10 am. (my mistake of thinking 11 am) and the ladies that came to inform us were very pleasant and gave us grace. The location is private, with only being able to see one neighbor... keep the directions that they send you, because this place is hard to find using GPS. Prepare to carry off your own trash and start washing your own towels as it is required. Beds were comfortable. Pet friendly was nice; deposit was returned in an appropriate time frame. Over all, I think I would go there again, if the occasion arises.
So peaceful and quiet. It felt like we were in a tree house because of all of the trees.
We had a wonderful time! The cabin configuration was perfect for us. The area is so beautiful there. Clad could not have been any more accomodating. I wish we could have stayed longer...
Theses guests were so easy to work with. I enjoyed having them and hope they visit again soon! Clad Brockett.
Nice place close to the lake
The house itself was nice. Needs some updating but it was nice. Only issue we had was the satellite tv never worked during our stay and there is no WiFi. The dish never had a connection. We weren’t there during the day anyway but at night we couldn’t watch the tv. We did other things to pass the time. We really enjoyed the lake, cruising and fishing!
