Why John and Marcy Wood chose Ouray
Historic Billy Goats Gruff was once a popular gasthaus, biergarten and ice-cream parlor. The business was closed in 2006 and stood empty until we purchased it 10 years later in Oct 2016. The back apartments existed as summer housing for exchange students and kitchen staff. Prior to that, the building was the first drive-up motor lodges, originally every other unit was an actual carport for Model As. We renovated the entire back building into 5 apartments and one office, insulating all units, updated from stud-stud and everything in-between and creating a year-round living space. We hope you enjoy your stay in Ouray.

The Billy Goat Gruff property was a very clean and had all of the amenities possible for a small condo atmosphere. It was within walking distance of all of Ouray including Box Canyon. Great area to visit if you're looking for mountains and scenery.
Excellent property & excellent location.
Location is right downtown Ouray. Beautiful view of the mountains and can hear the river with windows of open. Will stay again next year!
Nice place and very clean.
Outstanding in Ouray
The property was just right for my husband and I. It gave us more room than a hotel room. Convenient to downtown Ouray. Having the Red Mountain Brewing and Restaurant right in front of the property was nice for grabbing a bite to eat.Beer and food was good.
Enjoyed our stay. Cabin was a nice size. Very clean and neat.
Only downside was the noise from the neighbors. They were not loud - the walls are just thin.
Newly renovated and a lovely area
Great comfortable bed and a cozy space. Newly renovated and clean. Wish the dumpster wasnt outside bedroom window though. Still a great visit
Thank you for your review. So far we have re-arranged the toilet for a better bathroom experience and created a draft-stopper to decrease the noise between interconnecting units. Some things we just can't change due to City requirements. Thankfully, the larger and more picturesque windows face a completely different direction. We also have a unit, Twin Peaks, is very similar, with living room and double-sinks, this unit may be more suited to your needs and is further away from the containers. All of these factors have been calculated into the nightly rates. We will continue to strive for a better experience for our guests.
