This former barn situated in a privileged location with a fantastic seaview has been transformed into a luxurious villa with 180m2 offering all the desired comfort, space and amenities (Wifi, air-conditioning, smart TV's, fully equipped kitchen, etc.). Perfect for 1 family, a group of friends or 2 families (max. 8 guests) who want to spend their holidays together.

The surrounding garden of approximately 2000m2 offers exclusive privacy, a lush vegetation displaying the variety of the ligurian flora, centennial olive trees and a variety of fruit trees (mandarines, oranges, lemons, khakis, plums, figs, pears, apples). There is a large pergola with an external kitchen with a gas stove, a dining area for breakfast, lunch or dinner outside, a BBQ and an authentic pizza oven. Last but not least you can relax by the pool where the sun shines from dusk until dawn. The pool is open from May 1st until October 15th. A ping pong table is available with rackets and balls.

Garden: Pool, sundeck, shower by pool, ping-pong table, large pergola with pizza oven, barbecue, outdoors kitchen, washing machine

Guests can access the entire property including garden, pool and parking space for their own private use. A small deposit room adjacent the kitchen, a couple of cupboards in the living room and a storage space in the garden are not accessible. The garden area is quite large and some remote areas of the garden are not fenced. Kids should remain under surveillance of adults in the garden and pool areas.
Video surveillance system on property (outdoors) around the house (inactive during guest presence unless specifically requested otherwise)

Parking: 2 cars directly on property.

Note: The last portion of the road from the church to the house (ca. 200m long) is narrow in a couple of points. This is quite common in Liguria due to the topography. It is manageable for most vehicles (width of the car ca. 1.90m or below, with side mirrors closed) but driving through may be uncomfortable to some. We suggest guests to check the width of their vehicle and to make their own assessment how comfortable they are driving through, as this really depends person to person (e.g. locals drive through with trucks as well). We are available to provide assistance as needed. Alternatively, the car can also be parked on the street around the piazza/church.

Accessibility: there are 3 flights of stairs between the parking and the house. Not suitable for people with disabilities

The center of the village with its piazza, butcher shop, bakery, grocery store, fruits and vegetables is 5min walk. The area is well known as an amazing hiking area, trails start right behind the house. The scogliera of Pieve Ligure (see photos - fantastic place for a swim) is 800m distance. Beaches nearby in Sori and Bogliasco. Recco 8km. Camogli 10km. Genova 15km. Rapallo, Santa Margherita, Portofino 20km. Cinque Terre easily reachable for a day trip

Bus: directly at the piazza
Train: Pieve Ligure train station nearby
Car: Highway exits in Genova Nervi and Recco
Plane: Genova airport within easy reach
Boat: Service in Recco with stops in Camogli, goes around the Promontorio of Portofino (Punta Chiappa, San Fruttuoso), Portofino, Santa Margherita, Rapallo. Cinque Terre can also be reached by boat

An Energetic Ligurian Vacation
Our family of 8 had a wonderful time at Villa Margherita in Pieve Alta. From 12-75 years of age, we are all active and appreciate the wonderful Italian life-style that involves exercise -- walking to the sea and back is 1.8 km of steep steps and charming tiny streets -- and great food that one feels entitled to have after all those steps. When we felt the weather was a bit too hot for the climb back from the sea, we took the mini-bus right from the square to Boglisasco -- market day is Tuesday, the swimming is lovely, as are the shops and bakery. The Pieve Alta community is also very charming. We met many helpful people who welcomed us generously. The Panificio even made our pizza dough for us and we picked it up on a Sunday morning to make dinner that night easier. The wood-burning pizza oven is an amenity I have not experienced anywhere else in all my villa-rentals in Italy. The whole family got involved -- twice. We also walked to Il Lido' -- restaurant, quite close and with a great view -- although Villa Margherita has the best views of anywhere. We picked fresh figs in the garden, had late night dips in the very pleasant pool, clipped herbs from the garden for our cooking, played ping pong -- and the list goes on. When we had questions, we got answers promptly and we were never made to feel that anything was too much trouble. I could go on.... it was a memorable stay.

Nice view and outdoor-kitchen, but too expensive
For the first time in all those years of renting houses (as a guest with a 5 star rating), we were really disappointed. VRBO advised us to post a review. We don’t mind to pay a high rental fee (comparable to a 4 star hotel), but then we expect a certain level of quality and a correct description of the house. * We felt very uncomfortable with 2 CCTV cameras pointing at us on the two terraces. * The pool is really not like shown on the pictures. We didn't expect a poor plastic build-up pool for children; adults can’t swim in it. The pool area is also far below average quality. * The poor kitchen gear (for exemple no bowls, no service plates, 5 wine glasses). * The 4th room isn't shown on the pictures and is not fit for adults because of the 2 children beds. However there is some feedback available stating that 8 adults stayed in the house which is impossible. * We knew the road was narrow, but with our car we couldn't take the first bend. This and more then 60 steps to reach the house, made the accessibility of the house not easy at all with luggage and groceries.

Beautiful Views and Wonderful Stay
Our family had a memorable stay at this very comfortable villa in Pieve Ligure. When we arrived we were greeted by the house manager, Sorah, who was so kind and helpful in answering all of our questions about the house and the area. Three of the four bedrooms upstairs have great A/C which was important since the temperatures were around 27 - 32 °C (80 - 90 °F) the entire time of our visit. The owners very kindly provided some fans for the downstairs of the house and so we were plenty comfortable. On the days that we did not make our way down to the ocean (by car usually because the walk is long and steep), the pool was a wonderful landing place at the end of a day, especially after the steep climb to the house. We explored the local nearby towns that are lovely—Camogli, Sestri Levante, Sori, Santa Margherita—and, of course, Portofino and Cinque Terre. The ferry to Portofino was very relaxing and the views were wonderful. The ferry queue was a bit competitive but we all managed to get onto the same boat. On the nights that we didn't eat out, we did a lot of cooking at the house enjoying the local fish and vegetables and meat from the butcher. Shopping at the markets nearby was easy. Some of us spoke Italian and others in our group did not but the locals could not have been nicer about helping us. During our stay, the small town of Pieve Ligure had a La Sagra Paella & Sangria Festival for about three days that was great fun. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and so appreciate the kindness of Sorah, Meg and the wonderful people we met along the way.

Beautiful villa in a nice area
Lovely house with all needs covered. Nice litle town center 3-4 mins walking distance with bakery, butcher and deli. Old pool that does the job. Fantastic view from the house, and perfect lounges for breakfast and dinner.

Italian Villa
Not enough words to describe the stunning setting from which we just travelled. The house and the grounds are beautiful. It was well appointed with towels and other necessities. The pool was perfect and the views of the sea brilliant. Meg was in contact very soon to answer questions and helped with a VRBO hiccup. Sorah checked is in and shared a lot of information about the village and the area. She was quick to respond to questions along the way during our stay. Paolo checked did our checkout bringing us delicious snack for our train ride. The perfect getaway!
