Love Kauai - So peaceful & relaxing

Perfect stay for a family with 2 young children. Lots of space in the suite for the family & nice to have a fridge for groceries. The activities on the property for kids were great - did lei & fishing pole making, took the kids fishing in the pond & they caught lots of fish! Very cute. There was live music at the beach bar during happy hour. The pool & beach were perfect. We saw monk seals on the beach every day and over 30 turtles at Brennecke’s beach at sunset. Great stay! Our only con would be that there aren’t that many shaded spots by the pool but we had our own umbrellas & hung out at the beach so it wasn’t really a problem for us. You can also rent umbrellas & chairs for the beach which was convenient. Thanks for a great stay. Mahalo!

Great stay

Overall great condo on a great property. The condo worked out perfectly for my family of 4 and we really enjoyed the use of the kitchen and the grills outside for cooking. This particular room overlooked the garden area in the center courtyard which is beautiful. Don't expect ocean views unless you're an owner and have one of those properties but that's really ok. It's a short walk to the beach and the grounds are wonderful to walk through. During COVID be aware that the Marriott property (not the condo manager) imposes arbitrary rules citing 'safety' during COVID so they can minimize the housekeeping staff hours and materials. We had to do all our own cleaning and they wouldn't give us any cleaning products.

Don’t book this if you are excepting garden views!

You are told that you are renting a garden view, we had the parking lot! Once you get there they say it happens a lot, especially if you come in on the last flight. We got there around midnight on Saturday, the front desk was wonderful, they said to call down in the morning. They had a place on Tuesday that we could move to, but we would have to check out of ours at 10, and couldn’t check in until 4. We had already done our shopping and no place to keep our food until 4.

The Best Property

Amazing property! Beautiful grounds right on the beach. Our family of five stayed in a two bedroom condo. We are in our 50’s with three kids ages 19-25. This was absolutely the best property for us. We had an island view with beautiful garden views. The access to beaches, hot tub, pools, snorkeling, surfing, etc. was perfect. We were also close to restaurants. We also loved the Honu Bar on site which had awesome food and drinks! We felt centrally located and still felt close enough to North shore.

Loved Kauai.. Hated the room!

There is nothing like the anticipation of walking into your resort villa and being met with crushing disappointment! We ended up on the first floor with a public beach parking lot view. Our room was also a handicap room. So while I truly hope someone who actually needed those amenities didn’t go without. It made our stay more difficult! There was no bathtub in the master and the shower was so small my husband barely fit. While we booked a villa so we could have the convince of home and make vacationing with the kids easier. We choose to never be in the room. We didn’t make one meal. Who wants to sit and enjoy their coffee or dinner watching beach goers come and go, and cars kicking up dust?! I read the fine print and understood that at the Marriott it’s a first come first serve basis. And while my husband is platinum status with Marriott, since we booked through VRBO it had no value. Also, Marriott really caters to the “owners” at the timeshare properties. Even so, I feel our room should have been given to us at a discounted rate. I booked “island view” and could see zero of the island. Even though we were extremely unsatisfied with our villa we did fall in love with Kauai. Besides the room issue the grounds and location of the resort was lovely! The South Shore is a amazing place! So beautiful! It was hard to leave!! We really do want to return and for possibly longer. I would happily go back to the Marriott beach resort if I could figure out a way to guarantee a more desirable room.

Unable to use the first 3 days due to Covid restrictions. VRBO refused to refund those 3 days. Nothing was open at the resort: no restaurants, no concierge, no gift shop. We needed to take my son to urgent care during our stay; it took us 2 hours to get transportation. No one answered the phone at the front desk to help us get transportation. It just rang and rang.

We had an amazing time! The property is perfectly located on one of the best beaches on the south coast. Staff were helpful. The unit was a good size and suited our family of 6 perfectly. Would definitely return!
