Comfortable, with a few minor inconveniences
The management was great to work with, answering questions and accommodating requests cheerfully. The house is right on the lake, and we were able to tie our boat off to trees to avoid repeated trips to the boat ramp.
A smaller boat could tie off to the pontoon that serves as a swim dock. The house needs some minor updating to be really nice - carpets have been stained by pets or spills, one of the toilets didn't work, and furniture was ripped - but it's roomy and comfortable for a big group. Our group had several singles, so the bedroom configuration wasn't ideal and the sleeper sofas all were broken or missing support for the mattresses, but we made it work with an air mattress. There is a pool in the neighborhood, far enough away that I never actually saw it, although others in our group went daily. There's a nice big deck for winding down in the evenings, with so many trees around it's like sitting in the woods without the bugs on the ground. The area has a good variety of things to do: lake activities, Eureka Springs historical shopping area, several caverns, the glass chapel, state parks, golf courses, so it's good for most any gathering.
Fantastic Family Kayak Trip
Everything, from the booking to the checkout process was amazing! The house was perfect - lots of room, super clean, well equipped, fantastic location. Karen, the owner, was awesome to work with. She made everything super easy and full of knowledge. She even had maps of Beaver Lake ready for us, marked with where the house was and how to find our way on the lake. The cove the house sits in is perfect. We where able to easily launch our kayaks and the pontoon docked there made for a great hang-out spot to swim and fish off of. We loved it so much, the family is asking when we are going next year! Thank you Karen and company for making our family kayak trip a huge success.
Multi generation family vacation
Great size. Three levels worked great for our family. Kitchen had everything we needed. Loved having the second refrigerator in the garage. Concerns - oven & burners did NOT work very well. Smelled musty upon our arrival. The towels were very thin. Some of the bedding was stained & didn't fit the beds properly. Pillows were very thin. Doors, door frames, walls & carpet all need to be cleaned. There were cobwebs everywhere - including spiders found in the tubs. The furniture on the front porch was so dirty that none of us would have considered getting near it. Bottom line - needs deep cleaning, painting, & new flooring. We've rented through VRBO for many years - first time we've been disappointed with a property.
Spacious home for a large group or family reunion
We enjoyed spreading out in this home. We had 12 of us from 6 months to 66 years old! We called the manager because there were no griddles or large pans to cook with. The following day everything needed to cook with showed up! If you plan on cooking in this home, you will certainly find it well stocked with new things!
The home itself needs updating with a couple of holes in chairs, paint needing redone, etc. but it was very clean! The walk down to the water is extremely steep with no set path that we could determine.
All in all, we found it acceptable for a large family wanting to spread out and have a fun time together. The roads are extremely winding to get to the home. The internet service worked well but the Roku kept going off and on. This wasn’t a problem for us because except for children’s cartoons in the morning, we weren’t there to watch TV!
House is just like the pictures
First of all Karen at Beaver Lake Vacations rentals was awesome to work with. The pictures you see of the house are what you get.
We had 4 families consisting of 13 people that ranged from 62-3 yrs old. The house set up is great for multiple families and with bathrooms on each level of the house makes it really convenient. This was our first time to Beaver Lake so we were glad to have read previous reviews and brought our water shoes. They are an absolute must. It was a little rough and steep getting in the water down by the boat dock. It was also a little murky for our liking & we kept getting nibbled on my something in the water. We enjoyed the lake much more when we rented a boat and also when we hung out at a BBQ site over by the dam. We were here over the 4th of July and you can't see fireworks from the house. Karen will help with showing a good spot to watch them from.
The house had plenty of seating inside for us and we used the upper deck some. We never used the lower deck, it and the chairs were pretty grimy. The kids took over the basement and enjoyed the space there and the games that were available.
The washer and dryer were awesome and as we washed bath & towels daily and had no problem keeping up. The oven on the other hand took a while to heat up and bake items. The garage fridge was perfect for all of the extra drinks.
For others there were some things that weren't provided that have been in other homes. Nothing against this house just want to help the next renters. Charcoal for grill, coffee, cleaning supplies (no carpet cleaner, windex, broom & dust pan), pretty sure there wasn't a clock anywhere either. The shower towels were very thin and small.
Great for a lake get-away
We traveled with 2 young families. We had a great time; very relaxing. The décor in the house was functional and practical. The kitchen was well stocked for all cooking we did.
Great value for the money.
