About this property

The guest side of our large historic house has two double rooms and one 2-bedroom suite. Each spacious room has its own private ensuite bathroom. In total, we can accommodate eight people. Ideal for couples, families or small groups. All rooms were recently renovated and furnished in contemporary style.

Room 1: This bright spacious room has a queen bed and private ensuite bathroom with a shower. Both the bedroom and bathroom get beautiful afternoon sun.

Room 2: This bright spacious room on the 2nd-floor has a queen bed and private ensuite bathroom with a shower. The bathroom gets gloriously sun-drenched in the afternoon.

Room 3: This well-appointed 2-bedroom suite on the 2nd-floor has a queen-size bed in one room and two twin beds in the other bedroom. It features a full private ensuite bathroom with tub/shower combination. The suite has lots of natural light and high ceilings and gets drenched with morning sun.

Enjoy large windows in all bedrooms that can be opened for a nice cross-breeze, overlooking the beautiful pasture and peek-a-boo views of the river.
All bedrooms have high-quality linens and mattresses that our guests rave about. Contemporary furnishings and stylish décor will make you feel at home, with WiFi, Netflix, Prime, hairdryer, iron and more.

While there is not a full kitchen for guest use, you are welcome to use the guest lounge 24/7. The lounge has a fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, water dispenser, large table, chairs etc. You are welcome to bring your own food and The Nosy Crow Bites & Brews and the Biscuit Eater Cafe deliver to River Ridge Lodge. If you like, we can also make our BBQ available – just let us know. And of course, if you use any of our dishes, we will do all the cleaning up. After all, you’re on vacation!

If you need anything, we’re close by and ready to help! We live in the house, but you’ll enjoy privacy with your own guest entrance and covered porch, on the opposite side of the house.

You can simply relax and enjoy soothing views of the pasture from every room at our airy retreat, or fill your day with indoor and outdoor activities, between the indoor lounge, covered porch, picnic tables and dock on the river 200 feet away, about 1km upriver from Mahone Bay.

Our welcome package includes chocolate, water, coffee and tea in your room and in the guest lounge. We also offer complimentary bikes and have easy access to the Rum Runners Trail, perfect for the outdoorsy and adventurous. We also provide beach towels.

Relaxing Stay

We were a group of 8 family members from all parts of the province meeting for a family wedding. We were greeted warmly and shown around. All the rooms were very clean, welcoming and comfortable. We enjoyed the use of the coffee room and the morning coffee provided by our hosts. We used the bikes and enjoyed the little dock by the river. Would recommend staying to anyone. Thank you for your hospitality.

Excellent Choice

This is a lovely farmhouse with updated bathrooms in an excellent location. The hosts are knowledgeable of the area and accommodating to individual requests. Their dog is a big and gentle giant full of a little vigor but mostly flops and rests. The breakfast served was fresh and delicious and abundant.

Welcome to River Ridge Lodge. We're Frauke and Mike, the owners of River Ridge Lodge. We will do our best to ensure a relaxing and memorable stay and make our home your home away from home. We love meeting new people, making friends and sharing the many treasures the surrounding area offers and make Mahone Bay such a great place to live and visit.

We moved to Mahone Bay from Vancouver, BC in September 2017. When we saw the listing of the property in February that year, we felt that our dream could come true. Mike had been a gardener for the Vancouver Parks Board for more than 30 years and finally wanted to garden for himself. Frauke moved to Canada from Germany in 1992 after her university studies and was a data analyst in Vancouver for over 20 years. Frauke has always dreamed of running a Bed and Breakfast, and both of us fell in love with Mahone Bay during a trip 17 years earlier.

Why they chose this property

We instantly fell in love with the property's rolling hills and wide-open fields. We always dreamt of waterfront property and the beautiful tidal river that flows into Mahone Bay, and its endless horizon seemed the perfect match for us. The house needed a lot of love and care, but for 9 months we worked on it every day and we feel that we made it a beautiful home and lodge and are proud to share the house and property with guests, family, and friends. We loved every minute since we got here in September 2017.

And it wasn't just the property, we endear our friendly and open neighbourhood. You will find that walking down the scenic road down towards where the river opens up to the bay, people will wave to you. We love where we live, the kind and laid-back coastal Maritime Life is what says with you forever.
