It has some good points...
I stayed here with some friends and family this past summer. It's a beautiful view, with a protected bay. The lake side/water front is somewhat secluded, and the fire pit location is great. The dock is what it is- it's a dock, and it's not necessarily unsafe, but caution should be used, especially around young children. But that's a rule with any dock. The one plus with this cottage would be if you could bring your boat and use the hoist- the owners kept their boat in the hoist, which they can absolutely do, but having direct water access increases the interest in renting in the area, IMHO. There were issues with the septic system, and we all noticed it- especially after we all took showers. One review just touched on this issue. There were some other minor things, like having the A/C unit in the living room taped off and unusable- but, then again, I don't come up to Northern Michigan needing A/C. It would, however, be nice to have that option. The other nice amenity would be for people staying at this cottage to have access to cable or satellite- so many rentals in the area have this, it's a plus. Internet is not something I'm looking into when I rent, but, again, it's very nice to have. This rental has a ton of potential- I, myself, have rented several different locations around the Burt Lake/Mullett Lake area over the years- this one in particular could be one of the 5 star places, but some things need to be updated before that happens.

2/10 Terrible

Beware!!!
Be very careful when considering this cottage. The owner misrepresents many features. The house has an antiquated septic system right outside the primary entrance, and the sewage smell is constant and heightened any time the toilets are used (including sewage water flooding outside the door). Very overbearing and unpleasant. The bathrooms and "shower" (add-on hose/shower head) are less than desirable and the owner warns about multiple toilet/shower usages (even though the cottage promotes rental for 6+people.) Also, the dock is very rickety and unsafe. No ability for any type of watersports recreation. Additionally, this part of Mullett Lake has "dormant water," including weeds, mucky bottom, scummy film and unpleasant aroma. Finally, the owner is disingenuous with security deposits. Beware! There are far more options for a pleasant experience on Mullett Lake than this "cozy" place. Miserable.

Beautiful home with lovely view
The cottage comfortably accommodated four adults. The view of the lake is spectacular. The area was quiet and secluded. However, the stairs down to the dock and the dock itself are a bit unsteady.
