Unwind at this stunning stone-build historic Mansion overlooking the Hydra harbour and town. The Mansion was built in 1842 by a rich family who was actively involved in the War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire by contributing several of their vessels and fighting in the war, and it fully reflects their stature. It was recently renovated fully and tastefully decorated by a prominent Greek artist with a combination of antiques and modern furniture. The Guest House comes fully equipped with modern amenities ensuring that you can enjoy a comfortable stay while you access of the mansions’ several independent gardens and terraces and marvel at its majestic views of the island.
The space:
The Mansion is located at the top of a hill on the west side of the port – which has traditionally been the high end and most sought-after part of the island – enjoying beautiful sunrises and cool breezy afternoons.
This unique Guest House is an independent part of the Mansion, comprised of 2 ensuite bedrooms with showers, and an open plan kitchen and a dining / living space.
One bedroom has a king-sized bed, while the other two single beds that can be joined making it the perfect place for a family of 4 or two couples. Each bedroom overlooks the harbour, so you’ll be waking up to breath-taking views of the harbour, the sea and the mountains, while each bedroom has access to its own private terrace where you can enjoy your breakfast or a glass of wine. The living area has access to a gorgeous and unique courtyard concealed by a protective stone wall to wear off invading pirates.
The guest house has all the amenities you will need for a pleasant and comfortable stay, such as a fully equipped kitchen, aircon in both rooms, toiletries, hair-driers etc.
The decoration of the guest house is done by a prominent Greek artist and offers a very unique experience.
Guest access:
The Mansion is located in a very quiet and family friendly neighbourhood. The Guest House and its gardens and terraces are fully independent and accessible to the guests only.
Other things to note:
The Mansion is at the top of a small hill at the west side of the port of Hydra. It takes a 15 minutes’ walk through the islands’ narrow streets with lots of steps to get form the port to the mansion. It is not advisable to un-fit persons or very young children.
